The big advantage of the 1650 is that it doesn't require any additional power connector as it gets all its power through the motherboard. This makes it great for lower end systems or OEM based systems that have basic PSUs. The problem is that it's always been too expensive, it's a decent card but just not great value for money.

I'm surprised that gddr5x didnt replace gddr5 in the lower end. Also is the 1650 even bandwidth starved to begin with and is it really cheaper to use gddr6 vs just using gddr5 and a wider bus like 196 bit or even 256 bit

I think they literally just lego lower models like that depending with what parts they have on excess or something , we saw it with the 1060 too.

Pincount is double with gddr5x so adds complexity to the board in terms of increased traces.
