Seems to be a perfect card for 1440p. Thank you Hilbert.

That's one kickass card. I reckon they won't be selling too many Titan Xs anymore.

Regarding Ryzen performance after a very long time we finally started seeing a cost effective alternative to $1000 Intel HEDT CPUs. Things will only improve when the new AMD platform settles a bit. As usual a top notch review from HH.

With a slight overclock, seems like this is the first true 4K gaming GPU. The regular 1080 wasn't good enough, and the Titan X is too expensive (not that the 1080Ti isn't either...). Power consumption seems weirdly high though. It's almost as much as 2x 1080s, but isn't double the performance. There was one weird anomaly though - the Doom Vulkan tests. The top 3 GPUs were all capped at 200FPS. Obviously, the GPUs themselves aren't the bottleneck because their specs are a little too different. That's a pretty clean number, and, a number that no monitor (to my knowledge) can or has ever reached. Makes me think that maybe Vulkan has it's own frame limiter. I don't think it'd be PCIe as a bottleneck because Vulkan is supposed to reduce PCIe bandwidth, so 200 sounds kind of small. I don't think it'd be the CPU as a bottleneck because there would likely be maybe a 1 or 2 FPS difference between each model.

It seems only clock difference is making it match or outperform TXP. Gen after gen the same picture. Nevertheless its an beastly card. Lesson for Titan owners. Learn to be patient.

Let's wait and see what Vega brings 😀 Personally I'd need a nice big shiny 4k TV before justifying one of these beasts! Either that or getting a HTC Vive which my girlfriend is totally up for but the total outlay for a GPU like this and a HTC Vive is big!

I can't seem to find the price tag on this one?

I knew this card would end up being faster than the Titan XP (though not always at 4k, guess this is due to the lower bus bit) A very lovely card, very tempted to pick up a third party version might have extra overclock room to replace my 980ti. Though as someone else said maybe should wait for Vega to see what AMD has to offer. Shame about the 1800x though hopefully the windows update comes soon to help this issue

Interesting to see how Ryzen seems to be holding the GPU back a whole lot in a few of the games even at 1440P. I didn't really care about it holding things back on 1080P as I would never play in that resolution anyways. But most people claimed that if you play above 1080P the GPU becomes the bottleneck so Ryzen would be a great choice for us gaming at above 1080P giving us a more future proof build with more cores and threads. But after reading this I'm becoming more sceptical.. I hope you are going to digg deeper into this? Do a more in depth GTX 1080 Ti Ryzen vs Kaby Lake vs Broadwell-E comparison?

Wow. That review offers a lot. 34 pages. Lots of reader requests. Cool, Hilbert. 🙂

Just waiting for a nice custom cooled / OC'd card and i'm having one !!!

What a powerhouse. I'd be hard pressed to believe, that VEGA could compete here. Well, we'll know sure enough. Either way, as a ~350€ shopper at best I've to live in patience for the day such power comes into the (upper) middle class.

hmmm decisions decisions

that MSI one looks pretty awesome.

In some games the issues are clear but in others 4ghz holds it's own really well vs 4.3ghz haswell hedt

HH, pretty good review.

Thanks for the Mega review H The cards performance is really good ,great for a single card @ 1440p. My next upgrade will be to a single GPU for the first time in many years .

You need to follow the tech scene more closely. Everyone knows Doom is capped at 200fps. Asus and Zowie are already selling 240hz monitors.

I'm throwing money at my screen right now. (but no, I won't get the FE) Thing is, I really contemplated sticking to my 1070 considering how things were looking, but since this 1080Ti turned out to have a much better price/performance ratio than I anticipated, the temptation is just too damn big. :O I'm still on 1440p (still waiting for a worthy monitor to upgrade), so a card like this will likely last 2 years at ultra setting, so there's that too.
