I wonder how this will perform in comparison to the 480, bein in roughly the same price class (200 - 300$).

Looks like Nvidias running scared. Probably another yawn worthy, over priced, under powered card, just like the 960.

if those specs are correct it looks a bit gimped. that is, if they price the card the way i think theyre going to...quite interesting news regardless. cant imagine availability is going to be anywhere near robust, even if it performs well. 1080 & 1070 stock is still incredibly low everywhere.

960 was a let down because of how well 970 performed, and AMD got 380 released that crashed 960. My guess, price would around $249 with performance slight bit faster than 980.

Why not give us a few more gigabytes?

because... 192bit which gives you 75% of GP10170 memory bandwidth and because 6GB is perfect for this class of GPU you can always cheap-out and go for 3GB :wanker: compared to 128bit 4GB/8GB consumers get more power with 192bit, Nvidia makes a clear distinction vs 1070 and saves few $$, everyone wins

This looks like it'll perform around the 970 if it clocks over 1800mhz. Will be interesting.

Most likely a 299$ GPU. I dont like being a 3/6 ver. Greedy even on Vram.

would rather funky memory configuration ? 192b bus, gotta be 3/6

Its already funky with that combo. It reminds me of gtx660 which was more expensive and slower than 270X aka 7870.

I feel that 3gb can be a limiting factor actually. But @ 1800 it should match 970. I just wonder how high it will clock. @ 120w it will use 40 watts less then rx 480 supposedly then. 250-299$ if so it better be faster then rx 480. Low memory bandwidth with 192bit. RX 480 could use more bandwidth already.

50W less and NV typically need less memory bandwidth to match a given performance level

It could very much limited bandwidth, 150gb/s is low this days. Seems like nvidia is targeting 1080p with this card. No way this card will do well in 1440p.

why would you target 1440p with a midrange card? The card it competes with doesn't do well in 1440p either.

Now I know a lot of people that use 970 for 1440p or 290 series or similar. And things work fine sure you cannot max every game but well. RX 480 performs similarly to those on 1440p and some might want to play on that resolution so the bandwidth might become an issue. Not saying it will tho. 6gb 1060 will be good I don't have such faith for 3gb card tho.

480 and 1060 will be 1080p cards, nothing more. 1440p gaming requires quite a bit more power. 480 already struggles to hold 60fps at 1080p in pretty much every demanding game, even with details dropped. 1060 will perform similar. they're budget cards, you get what you pay for.

Exactly. So what if 970 handled 1440p okay when it released? It doesn't any more. The 8800GTX handled 1600p okay when it launched, doesn't say anything. 1440p two years ago = 1080pp today in terms of performance requiirements if you buy rx480 or 1060 for 1440p you're just setting yourself up for disappointment

I would think if one has 1440p native resolution monitor and limited budget for gpu they won't be disappointed if they cannot max settings out they will be happy if they can instead of low settings play on medium to high. Now sure a lot of games are way more demanding now, some for wrong reasons. Like select ubisoft games work bad on any system pretty much while not looking that good.

Should be a nice little card, hopefully it'll perform like/better than the 980 like the rx480 was hyped up to be.
