This is all way to Orwellian and people need to wake up to this BS! We are already moving into a cashless society and next the “new world order” will be trying to implant us with RFID chips.

They don't need RFID when that vast majority are glued to their smartphones, they already know exactly where you are and what you're doing!!

Man I should have known that this is some kind of stupid police tactic. I smell lawsuit because in my mind that this is unconstitutional because the people trading in games are not criminals they are gamers.

Gamestop is just protecting themselves from lawsuits from an overly litigious world) by gathering fingerprints VOLUNTARILY from people in the city where there is a high amount of theft and crime in general. IT'S NOT ORWELLIAN, it's VOLUNTARY. If it was COMPULSORY fingerprinting then it would be objectionable.

It's only for people trying to trade-in games at GameStop. They aren't finger printing those that simply buy games.

It's not a police tactic. GameStop chose to do it. There is no law requiring them to do it, therefore....no "police tactic"...

It's not voluntary. If you want to trade-in games at Philadelphia area GameStop locations, you're required to provide a finger print scan. If you refuse to provide the finger print scan, you can't trade-in games.

It's voluntary if you don't mind being controlled. It's voluntary if you want to be able to sell your game. Do you see a pattern here? Enjoy your mind controlled life!

Posted 02 July 2009 - 12:42 AM My store said this just started today, and it was going to apply at other gamestops. They asked for my thumb print and made me fill out some paper work (had to input my address), they looked at my ID and everything! This was in sacramento if anyone was wondering... Just sayin...

I'd start selling my games second hand online if I was stuck with that option, it's not difficult to do. I've been asked for I.D when trading games in before, but nothing more than my bank card. There's not a chance in hell I'd be going through all that for the sake of a trade in.

I recently traded a bunch of games in earlier this year, and didn't run across this yet at my local Gamestop. If I ever do I'll simply refuse and take my things back, and go somewhere else.

That's what's wrong with you people. It's about the principle of the matter and people still can't understand that. For example, my dsl provider O2 in Germany has started with the monthly bandwith cap and that pisses me off even if that doesn't affect me, but only new customers. But still, soon my contract is about to expire and i already sent them the cancellation letter or whatever is called in english and only because of that. There are plenty of other providers who don't set any limits, so why should i stick with those idiots who do it. Anyway, as i said, it's about the principle of the matter. People who say "Ah, that doesn't affect me personally, so i don't care" are idiots.

It's all about the money to them, and it just sits in their accounts and rots. It is a very sad thing.

Pretty much this.

"You people".... I don't buy **** from GameStop. Never have, never will. Stating a fact, doesn't mean a show of support for said fact. Quite frankly, I have more important things to worry about than a GameStop store in Philadelphia (which is about 9hrs away from me anyway) forcing people who trade-in games to give finger print scans.
