It was well designed in its own unique style. Nothing wrong with expanding possibilities, locations and story. Getting stack underwater forever is boring. EDIT: -------------------------------------------------------------------------- LOTS OF SPOILERS OF BIOSHOCK SERIES BELOW. Don't scroll if you didn't play game before and looking to play it!! --------------------------------------------------------------------------

We'll probably get to pay real money for plasmids this time around...o_O My bet is on a 1960s moonbase (or even Mars) as location...that or some arctic region...

I wonder how likely it is that there will be microtransactions and it will have multiplayer?

Well, a new Bioshock is welcome, but the way 2k has been doing business lately leaves me slightly worried. A Bioshock game is SP first and foremost. I really hope they won't make it MP-centered, in order to sell lootboxes or skins.

The plot lost itself in all the dimension-hopping, though. It was a mess by the end of the story. Otherwise I enjoyed the gameplay, but wished for less corridor based level design.

Saw the article couple days ago. Didnt interest me because ...... "The production will take at least a few years." When its a few months away, my attention will perk up a bit more.

Love Bioshock series, but without Ken Levine writing I can see disappointment written all over this.

As we continue growing our product portfolio, we remain inspired by opportunities to invest further in our valuable IP, great people and their collective, long-term potential
Sounds more like business acquisition than actual wish to make a new game..

After the third part I'm gonna pass. also for sure it will be bloated with ''microtransactions' (or more like ''macrotransactions'' lol) if even it will be SP game at all...

I haven't tried Infinity and I'm really hesitant to get it. The first game was so highly praised, but, the twist at the end doesn't make up for what I found to be more of a chore and annoying experience than fun. So, it's hard for me to decide if I should even bother with Infinity, if that has was perceived though the same rose-tinted glasses. All that being said, I'm even more hesitant about this new game, since it really seems to scream "cash grab".

Infinity was OK, but I think it received higher praise than it deserved by many review sites. Aside from reviews, I check out walkthroughs on YT to get a better sense of the gameplay.

With Infinite i only liked the last DLC , all other stuff was very repetitive.

Own all the BIOSHOCK games have not completed any of them, just started playing BIOSHOCK Remastered a couple days ago.It looks real good for how old the game is ,and not a stutter to be seen.BIOSHOCK Infinite I could not run that game with the stuttering, hitching and terrible square shadow box. New game probably pick it up,got to be better than last one.

Kinda surprised Ghost Story Games isn't making it, considering they are mostly made up of the previous Irrational Games, of which made Bioshock....

Shouldn't be too hard to make this a success. The gameplay formula of the series is about having different approaches to roast enemies with your weapon and plasmid set, while having those neutral Big Daddies roaming around. The second game was not written by Levine and it was pretty good, so I don't have any fear about the story. It was gameplay wise even more intense, though sometimes very hectic with the tight spaces. Infinite was different because you had the open space and long range rifles, furthermore enemies inflicted more damage and there was no Big Daddy equivalents. All this made the game feel slightly more a military shooter than a Shock-game and it is also pretty tough on the hard difficulty. What Infinite maintained is the great voice acting and even more interesting plot, though not philosophically as thought provoking. The first one is still better due to the intense atmosphere and more satisfying combat, which together make it one of the greatest games of all time. The new game will have hard time matching the first one especially in atmosphere, but I'm more looking forward to it carrying similiar themes story wise and of course the action centered core with plasmid kind of powers (or straight up plasmids). The timeline and place don't matter that much to me, the game just needs to be a frantic shooter and it would be nice if the subject around the story is a political one, in which I include even warfares (like WW1 & WW2). No thanks to hidden agendas though. I do not wish the game having any RPG style progression, multiplayer or much of interacting with others, but completing tasks in a wide open area like in System Shock 1 with more open spaces would work nicely with gadgets like in Sekiro as an example and respawning enemies too. Indeed, every shock game needs those nasty reappearing enemies so the player would maintain strong focus on saving ammo and finding the straightest way to the objective. Of course there can be an option to disable respawning, but it should be on by default. Only challenge in open world design is the scaling of the enemies so you would have progressively rising difficulty. It could work if after completing story related tasks new tougher enemies appear all around the area for some reason. Enemy variety is of course important and the feeling of loneliness that you exist there only with the enemies, not with interactive NPCs or any other safe things, should be there. The possibilities for improvement are immense.
