Just stumbled upon it: Page3 and 5, below the picture of the dimms:
Say we notice on the packaging is this: CL16-16-16-36 1.35V (2T) for a memory kit. What do the numbers mean? Well this refers to CAS-tRCD-tRP-tRAS CMD (respectively) and these values are measured in clock cycles.
But the picture shows not the GTZ model, but the GTZB, which 'only' runs 16-18-18-38. šŸ™‚ Would have liked to see where you could have actually taken the memory to overclock, but I understand overlocking the RAM would have probably taken too much time. I'm still waiting for my second 2x8GB kit of the GTZB, so I can test those in my system. Thanks Gskill for the contest prize! šŸ™‚

1) The label does say that, but the XMP profile will allow CL16-16-16-36 1.35V. 2) I clearly start the line with "Say we notice on the packaging is this" as in hypothetical. Regardless I can understand some confusion there, I'll update that towards what the label states.

Back in the days of Sdram and DDR1 we all tweaked our ram , but then you could get some nice fps boost . Hell , resolution was 800*600 šŸ™‚ Now it's just not worth it unless you are using a Virtual Machine or professional software ( Acad , Catia , Tekla )

So not true. Higher speed ram affects min framerate, and really helps in multi gpu situations. Im still impressed with my 1866 DDR3 in quad channel. http://i.imgur.com/Kz84RGCh.png

Great review Hilbert , as always a good read. It would have been nice to see some overclocking action in those modules šŸ˜€ , maybe in the future :thumbup: as it requires some extra time and lots , lots of it šŸ™‚. Those modules are capable of DDR4-4000+ Mhz with a lot of tweaking on the primaty , secondary and thirdtiaries timings and some voltage adjustments not only in Voltage for V.Dimm but also other voltages in the bios that does help memory overclocking in DDR4 Asus ROG Z-170 Platform. But overall XMP is enough for the normal gamer. Sometimes high Cas latency and raw Mhz versus Lower Mhz and tight Cas latencies cancel each other out , hence the performance is equal = No difference in performance. there is got to be a balance between Cas lat and Mhz on DDR4 memory , sacrificing one of them = Lower performance always.

Another good review Boss! Good read. :thumbup: On this note, it's such a shame we don't see anymore big performance boosts like the old days from high performance RAM. DDR3 was yielding some good results when going from 1333-1600 to 2400! I mean I think it was more "observable". Well that's what I remember at least. I could be wrong tho and its just my memory playing tricks on me brain! :P Also I ordered a week ago the 16GB G.Skill 3200MHz 16-16-16-36 1.35v Turbulence III RAM kit for brother in law's pc which I assume are very similar to this TridentZ performance wise.

Maybe I'm better off just sticking to the 3200MHz. My advice is either 3000CL14 or 3200CL14 kits. Both on the same Samsung IC as 3600CL16 kit. Couple very positive reviews on the G.Skill Trident Z 2x8GB DDR4-3000 CL14 (F4-3000C14D-16GTZ). Both kits 3000/3200CL14 overclock the same up to 3733+MHz and of course are quite cheaper than 3600CL16 kits. I would get 16GB(2x8GB) 3000CL14 or a kit of 4x8GB if 32GB is needed/wanted. G.Skill Trident Z 2x8GB DDR4-3000 CL14 - F4-3000C14D-16GTZ Review 1 G.Skill Trident Z 2x8GB DDR4-3000 CL14 - F4-3000C14D-16GTZ Review 2 Edit: Just ordered the 32GB kit (F4-3000C14Q-32GTZ).
