Sweet. I was actually just looking at getting a new mouse soon.. I have a R.A.T 7 thats afew years old. Love the way the mouse feels and my next mouse has to have the thumb "holder". Id keep my current one but it has a bug where every time i restart my PC i have to unplug the usb and plug it back in... Gone through hours of trying to fix this problem and even moving from windows 7 to windows 8.1 didnt solve this problem. Either did moving from my old amd rig to my intel system... I was going to pull the trigger on the evga torq x10 carbon (even though it has no thumb rest). But now this. I might actually give it a try... Plus the price is pretty dang good.

It seems half the gaming mice available use that 8200 DPI Avago 9800 sensor, and any of them that list their switch type list Omron. I wonder why it's so popular among manufacturers. Are there not many options? Is it just cheaper than the others? It does supposedly have issues like acceleration, but I have a mouse with that sensor, any acceleration is minimal. I've literally seen $30 mice on Amazon from unheard of brands that use the Avago 9800 + Omron switches. Edit: How about a $15 one? - http://www.amazon.com/Perixx-MX-3000R-Programmable-Gaming-Laser/dp/B00CUBT06W/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1443058164&sr=8-3&keywords=Avago+9800+Omron

I'm mostly interested in knowing how much the thumb rest helps, for my next mouse I want to get one which holds as much of the hand as possible.

Another huge brick shaped mouse, awesome.... There's a reason why mice like the Deathadder are so popular and it's because of the excellent easy to hold rounded shape. What I want is a smaller Deathadder, similar in size to a Zowie ec2 with adjustable weight etc. Rant over. ;p

On the topic of Omron switches, I found an interesting post:
Actually you only mention 3 different switches: - variations of the D2F from Omron - TTC white - Huano white Plese forget TTC (made popular by Razer as cheap cost down compared to Omron) and Huano (used by Zowie for unknown reasons, probably only switch brand willing to re-brand for them wink.gif): Omron should be superior to TTC and Huano. However all mentioned Omron switches are variations of the same model: D2FC-F-7N, 5 Million clicks lifecycle with no load, manufactured in china, huge OF and RF range. D2FC-3M, cost down verison of above with 3 million clicks lifecycle Omron D2F-D2FC-F-7N(MS), Omron D2FC-F-7N(10M), Omron D2FC-G-7S same as above with 10 Million clicks lifecycle with no load, possible to be a re-branded D2F-F, probably depends on demand. MS is microsoft verison, 10M is common and G-7S is iirc a razer special offer but same switch. D2F-01F/-T, sorted for OF by Omron Japan (very same factory as D2FC but shipped to Japan for sorting) There are other switches with higher reliability, but the double click issue you mention will happen some day with all of them (if the internal polling is not lousy). 1.) Even if you have a 10M, as in 10 million clicks lifecycle, this is still without load, meaaing with no weight ... yeah right thats a little unlikely with a finger on top and actively pressing (overtravel) the switch... It is possile to get D2FC-F-7N that "feel" better than a 10M and or D2F-01F, even if the lifecycle is shorter. 2.) Brand and lifecycle alone dont make a good switch. tolerances for operation force and release force (OF, RF) as well as the mechanical design of the mouse and even the solder flow process for the PCBA impact the quality of the unit you get.
As far as I know most use the D2FC-F-7N or the cheaper 3M, mine uses the 7N rated for 5 million clicks and the first one died in year. This G.Skill mouse is rated for 20 million clicks, much more reassuring.

My Steelseries Rival is rated to 30 million, I guess they don't expect people to test it in practice...
I calculated I personally click closer to 8 million times per year with just a few matches of LoL a week. I'm constantly clicking every second of each match. Yet at that same intensity I had a Razer Lachesis last several years, it never broke down, well not really (one of the Teflon feet fell off). For someone that plays competitive games a lot, every day, 30 million clicks could be done in 2-3 years.

Bloody (A4Tech) has quite a lot of both optical an laser Avago-powered mice which cost around $20. This G.Skill mouse looks cool, costs less than Razer or Logitech, but I'd rather see it with an optical non-laser sensor.

Looks interesting, although the 60€ is above my usual budget, I might give it a try eventually.

I had this problem before. The problem was fixed after I updated the mouse bios. I think the profile I had downloaded to the mouse was also hosed. New bios also reset it back to default and it worked.

Well Id love to say i like the mouse but.. I hate the way it feels in my hand, and the way I hold the mouse it side buttons are pushed way way to far forward. So Im going to either keep the mouse for my other pc or send it back. So ya, I think i might just buy another rat 7. Id say its the most perfect mouse for my hand and the way i hold the mouse. Just so many adjustments to make it feel perfect in my hand lol. Here are afew pics. http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/Mj12doc/IMG_20150929_163323787_zpswwykd7ov.jpg http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/Mj12doc/IMG_20150929_163340994_zpss9bet366.jpg http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/Mj12doc/IMG_20150929_163435184_zpsoqkn1v34.jpg http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/Mj12doc/IMG_20150929_163519531_zpszu0i4v9l.jpg http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/Mj12doc/IMG_20150929_163607148_zpsnmlhkboq.jpg

I wish someone would release an ambidextrous mouse that had the feel of my Razer Lachesis 5600, but faster and without the driver problems that have plagued it since Windows 8. I love the mouse, but hate the fact that when the onfigurator tray icon is active the mouse randomly freezes (it's a known issue among users as well).
