1495$ is for Business\Commercial usage. I don't say it is cheap, no way, but for ordinary users price looks more friendly - 29.99$ one-time.

Professional edition is for, as one might assume, professionals... Such as press/hardware reviewers. It's there to let them bench any number of machines.

If someone can afford intel processor for $9000 then he can afford $1500 to benchmark it with software optimized for it (they named that "real-world apps and activities") just to confirm that he made a good purchase, even if is not good.
