Already own Crimes and Punishment--the best Holmes game of them all, imo...;) Downloading "Close to the Sun" right now! Glad to hear it's a decent game! I was initially peeved at Sweeney and when the EGS was first advertised I was not exactly a fan! Far from it. I was still smarting from how Sweeney and company used the PC game markets with Unreal and UT to become established and successful--and then simply dropped the PC market and went whole-hog into consoles for the easy dollar. "Cliffy B" gave Sweeney a lot of really poor advice, I see. Anyway, I think Sweeney is more than redeeming himself with the PC game market with the EGS. Of course, it doesn't hurt to point out that the x86 PC gaming market has grown by orders of magnitude over its size when EPIC abandoned it...;) Despite all the "predictions" that were made about the PC game markets and the PC itself, "dying". Sweeney now wants back into this market. Lots of the free games he gives away are decent--not just the garbage that other sites give away. He's actually investing money in the PC gaming market by giving these games away at some cost to himself, and subsidizing game developers! Valve, otoh, doesn't seem inclined to do that much at all. Anyway--I have no qualms with the EGS. I was amazed when The Outer Worlds first debuted that EGS sold the game sans copy protection whereas Microsoft wrapped it up so tight you couldn't even install mods! I bought it from Microsoft--and fortunately when I asked for my money back the Microsoft Store was nice enough to refund it--I then went to the only other place selling the game, the EGS, and was delighted to discover that Sweeney gave me an additional $10 off the price I originally paid Microsoft! That was merchandising done right, imo. OK, enough EGS spuming!
