Well that's the exact reason why they are giving away this old game - they hope that people will buy the expansions. So would be a pretty bad deal for them to give away the expansions for free.

Besides the Assembly Kit, Epic gives several character addons away for free too.

That is why I wrote "character addons", the expansion are those that cost something with exception of the cheapest package. Regardless, free game is free game and if never played might be a good introduction to TW:WH2, think one is better of to go there afterwards than buying the expansions for WH1.
