If anyone knows - > Will I be able to play MSFS 10 years from now? Will the streaming service/servers still be available? Up to what point will the map data be cached on my hdd before it starts cleaning up? Do I have an option as to how much data can be retained? (the more the merrier). Can I play the game at all if my internet service is disrupted?

10 DL-DVD's?? Why not use BluRay? Just 2 DL-BluRay can hold allmost 100Gbyte.

I hope it's 150GB of properly compressed data.

Why not ship it on a USB drive, like Windows 10 did for me?

Whole box of cheap 2gb sticks.

150GB is the new 150MB, so there is no problem downloading it. "Noone" is using dvd/blueray for games anymore.

Maybe they should share their list of bad practices... I mean data budget distribution.

Wait, what ? Why do we even care about DVDs when one single HDD costing just $150 ( 8TB USB external ) holds as much as 1000 DL-DVDs ? (and there are bigger drives available already, up to 20... but not so price efficient) And talking about flash storage, 64 and 128 GB sticks are a dime a dozen. DVDs have ended their usefulness a long time ago, in a galaxy far-far away. Blurays will survive.... a little longer.

The PC took the digital path for gaming rather than moving to BR from the DVD, hence why i can't think of one single PC game that came out on retail BR format, but it is a weird state of affairs, PC is at this point locked into a digital future yet consoles have the option for both digital and optical format and have even moved to UHD optical formats, weird how it turned out as you would think the modular open aspect of a PC would have made it the ultimate in options for having both digital and optical choices, yet as we see today that never happened, funny how things turn out. lol

currently there are several game titles from last year that are twice bigger than this flight simulator. Remember last Call of duty and RDR2?

DVDs???? I have not had a optical drive in any of my current machines in years. They need to offer a distribution on a flash drive. I wonder if they are going to offer a digital distribution option or do they not want to deal with the bandwidth issues on their side. Guess I will have to go hunting for my usb optical drive and prepare for a marathon install session come August. Wonder how Microsoft is going to package the disks. If they are not packaged properly there will be damaged disks they are going to have to replace. Anything less than a sleeved wallet will invite trouble; plastic jewel cases just do not hold up to retail distribution well enough.

Main way of having it, is digitaly via MS Store. In Europe there is a physical version with DVDs.

Even on a gigabit connection most people will be looking at 2-3 days to download it. Microsoft I guarantee you will not have the bandwidth to distribute this in a timely fashion. If digital downloads on the Xbox is any indication of the best they can do we are in deep trouble. For those that have slower connections I feel for you. If you have DSL you mine as well get the DVD set.

Unless you are into flying professionally or semi professionally, this is waste of money and disk space.

Or the game would fit on 104,167 1.44MB floppy disks.

Correct me if I am wrong but even when Blu-rays were a big thing (prior to ye ole streaming becoming the main stream) hardly anyone had a blu-ray player on their computer. I looked at getting one for a small media system I was going to build 3 or 4 years ago and it seemed like a proper minefield weather it would play nice with Windows and associated media players.

Hasn't DVD been dead for a long time now? I think the last physical game I bought on disc was MIrror's Edge back in 2009? And blu-ray was a total joke on PC.
