IBE will use X79, so no. But we do expect to see some new X79 launched by the motherboard manufacturers though.

Would make sense. After all didn't EVGA just release a new X79 mobo "Dark" or something along those lines?

Surprised they've not updated the chipset to be more like Z87 with more SATA6 ports etc, although IIRC, X79 was supposed to have 12 SAS ports right?

This is my biggest complaint about my Z77 board. It only has 4 SATA6 chips tied to the Intel controller, the rest are on asmedia or whatever. My X58 had 6 I think. I want to be able to run a RAID-0 Main and a RAID-5 Storage on the same controller with additional ports to spare.

Asmedia aren't that bad..OK yeah they're slower than AMD/Intel controllers but still faster than the Marvell crap Intel have been using. Intel boards do seem to suffer from a lack of Native SATA III controllers for sure. AMD been using 6x SATA III for yrears.

They aren't bad but I have no way of doing a hardware RAID on them and having RST managing everything is just much easier. I have no complaints about the speed of them at all.

If we're going down that route, then really you should have capitalised the "i" in "it's", highlighted above, given the context, given it is the start of a sentence. Remember that a lot of people on this forum don't have English as a first language, and most of us respect that.

Some of the X79 boards have already gotten a bios update to support IB-E. I'm just wondering what features these new ones will bring. I would definitely like to see more native Intel sata ports. 4 just isn't cutting it these days.
