So yeah that was the human equivalent of a DDoS ... at the peak the site had roughly 900% more traffic ... even front-end load-balancing on three servers could not cope with that effect.

Well-deserved, great review. Thanks Hilbert ! 1080, the card that kills everygame on the market. But 980-Ti and titan-X already do that. Except for VR or 4K, i don't know what could require so much power. 1070 and his expected performance of titan-X/980-Ti will be the real deal!

I didn't care much about frametime and microstutter when I had 2x970s, even though I should have and it was likely just me not noticing. Now with a single 970 I guess the OSD in AB shows a lower frametime value, but other than some GTAV I didn't play anything, and since the FPS is ****ty with just one 970 @1440p, I can't experience the "smoothness" anyway. It will be a different story when I get my hands on a 1080 I hope. 😀

Theoretically, if you're an fps monster, then, the GTX1080 might give you a tiny tiny edge. I would love to see the same graphs in comparision to GTX1070 aswell. Cheers for the review and this one Hilbert!

Overload on guru3d? that what happens when there is no ASYNC 😀 Great review HH as always, the 1080 seems to be a great card, but time will tell how it stand out, as i though it just maxwell on steroids, nvidia way to achieve best performance is via direct brute force rather than more helpful hardware features, tbh that is the easiest way.

So I take it that's the most impressive FCAT score you've ever encountered, Hilbert? Any ideas how the new, adaptive vsync works (in practice)? Is it just for VR or does it give benefits to standard gaming?
