Far Cry Primal is quite unlike any of the previous games in the series
From all the gameplay I've seen it's still 90% the exact same game as 3 and 4. The only real addition seems to be the animal allies, but even that is just one extra little step from the way you could release/lure animals into attacking enemies in the previous games. There's even still an 'outpost liberated' mini-cinematic that happens when you kill the guys in a camp for christ's sake lol

I really don't get why people are talking about this game like its such a departure simply because its set in a prehistoric era.. It is largely just like Farcry 3 & 4 with a couple new ideas thrown in so that they can market it as some kind of new innovative gameplay. Do people really fall for this? I mean, not to say it won't be a good game.. it will likely be as good as the past FarCry games, and this is fine. I just can't get over the constant hype and marketing spin all these games are getting these days and can't understand how people continue falling for all of it.

What do you mean "fall for this"? Some people like Far Cry games, so they buy and play Far Cry games. Where is the problem there?

The marketing hype comes from Ubisoft, and the people they are paying to market the game. Should they not be hyping the game they made? Are Publishers somehow doing harm by trying to promote the games they make? People who do like Far Cry should probably hear that a new one is coming out. Not everyone is plugged into the gaming press and reading headlines daily, so the way a big, wide audience finds out about most new games is through marketing campaigns.

I'd like to see a sequel to FarCry 2 that plays just as it did. Same controls, in-game map, challenging enemies and missions, actually work for and earn upgrades...all this with a more living environment (without overdoing that). And polish any bugs from the original FC2 that were apparent. Have it take place in a South American country that has a taste of all the terrains found there (jungles, high plains, treacherous mountains and passes, rivers, swamps, and even ocean).

What I'm talking about is any hype that would suggest this is such a new spin on the typical Far Cry game.. That's fine to market the game, this isnt what was referring to.. It's specifically that people will discuss primal as if its some huge departure when it really isn't, largely because they are just regurgitating the marketing and articles talking about this "amazing new take" on fps..

looks like another ubisoft reskin i read somewhere there gonna not make assasin creed in 2016 give the franchise an overhaul and farcry needs the same, i suspect ubisoft just released this for a quick cash in, then they will overhaul it with assasin creed

it will no doubt be a decent game it will no doubt be similar in many aspects to Far Cry 3 & Far Cry 4 that is all

Not another "outpost liberated" $hit seriously...

The original Crysis was indeed the true sequel to Far Cry. They were both made by Crytek and both had the same amazing tropical island theme with beautiful jungles. Ubisoft made the spin off game and they called it Far Cry 2, but it was just that, a far cry from far cry.

Gonna treat it as DLC to FC3 and get it on sale for £5 next xmas! 😀

Ubisoft's Far Cry spin off was Far Cry Instincts, originally released on Xbox. I still love this game and i'd love to see its remake...

This. There were 2 instinct variations released by ubi on xbox and there was one for the 360. Those games still play better than FC3\4.

FC Instincts and FC Instincts Evolution. Xbox 360 release was entitled Far Cry Instincts Predator and included both games previously released on Xbox. There also was FCI Evolution remake released on Wii entitled Far Cry Vengeance. And i absolutely agree with you: they are much, much better than FC3 and 4 🙂

where are you hearing or reading that? perhaps you are confused about what constitutes 'marketing'.
