Not sure how keen I would be if there are no guns / explosives... there's got to be some modern weapons, right?

Very keen if you ask me.. 🙂 Don't you think we have enough guns/explosives already.. Time for a change. Medieval, prehistoric, survival weaponry sounds lovely. 90% of the games out there has explosions and machine guns..

It seems obviously obvious to me that you'll be riding mammoths and sabre toothed tigers in this one...be able to make a fire in a 5 second QTE, and make f@cking ziplines from sheep guts. Be able to shoot bows with Mongolian lethality, throw axes, upgrade clubs, axes, spears, SLINGS, make all sorts of traps, practice stealth and heck, even choose from 50 soot tattoos and 20 beards with or without knots and bones. Yeah all of that is really 'new'.

That would be cool, and there's no need for that sort of logic considering far cry 1 had mutants. It would be easy to make up a story to put dinosaurs into the picture. And i'd love it.

Well, it looks like the crafting QTE's will finally seem relevant to the in-game character's need for having a means to carry an increasingly bigger pile of crap. I wonder if they will include a take down for getting a girlfriend (sneak up behind her and knock her over the head with your club then drag her by her hair to your nearest safe cave). But we will likely lose the coveted opportunities to drive ATV's or Jet-skis around a set of smoke signals and score the lowest time for bragging rights on the Internet.
Since writing hasn't been invented yet we will probably not have to run around collecting letters to home or even better, go off picking flowers for medicine. But I bet we will have to go to some mystical alter and sacrifice a wild boar in order to heal ourselves from hand-axe wounds and/or acquire supernatural powers. I hope the game's super-villain is given a somewhat more innovative name than "Ogg" or whatever.
Sounds like an exciting addition to the franchise.

You get given the task to get some healing flowers for your family only on the way back you see smoke rising over your village to discover that the enemies have attacked and killed most everyone. An elder will survive to tell you what happened and that your sister/brother has been captured and you must go rescue them
