I can't even remember buying my 1080 Ti, it has been so long. I still feel very little reason to upgrade because I run a high FPS 1440P monitor, versus 4K. People here give Nvidia a lot of crap but IMO, Nvidia has put out a lot of long-lasting performance parts and it isn't fair to just ignore that fact (recent history: 680, 780 and 1080 Tis). AMD doesn't have many GPUs that remain high-performance for several years.
what about the r9 290 and 290x 7970 & 7970 ghz rx 480 and rx 470 ? especially the 290 just does not want to die the 7970 was direct competitor to the 680 and over time the 7970 aged much better , 290x was competitor to 780ti witch also the 290x aged better

My vega 56 still rocking great, running warzone 144fps @2k no sweat was a great deal for 350$ π can run most shooters 2k @144hz
I just checked on Amazon UK, there you can get a Red Dragon, one of the best 5700XTs, for Β£390, a Gaming X 2070 Super is Β£520. They are a different price tier. Under 400 quid for such a great card is good value.
Wrong, it's the Red Devil (triple fan) not the Red Dragon (dual fan), which also is that close to 400 squid.
But yes, 5700XT offers plenty of performance for 1440p.
which doesn't change much if the cause is actually a busted video processor in the card, which is what things are leaning at.

really?Remember this ?
There are no causes of black screens in nvidia's drivers, all those you see there are problems with the system, decades old cpuid sdk problems or a ryzen bios fault, or windows 10 itself if theres an x79 system mixed in there. (thanks for breaking vtd MSFT)
kanenas:
Also the black screen issues are fixed and my 5700xt never had any problem

Updating motherboard bios, manually setting none PCI4 boards manually to use PCIE3 for the slot and updating drivers besides not going to crazy on overclocks doesn't point towards a busted GPU but more some compatibility issues which can be sorted out.
Did you read trough them? I doubt, cause if you did you would know that they don't support your claim.
The 5700XT is definitely a beast for 1440p, but you won't be able to convince him that AMD is a good idea. π
These seem to be rare issues with each link no more than a handful of cases which could apply to virtually any card you google.
It was a much bigger issue with the 5700xt which AMD acknowledged and 'supposedly' fixed several months later.

It supports the notion that 2070s getting black screens. As users are complaining of...black screens π±

All I need to show is that the 2070s also gets black screens. Remember, the claim is that they don't. Anyway, nice admission. π

Screen shot but no link to any massive 1000+ post thread? The search algorithm could just have gone haywire with 'black' or 'screen' terms separately.

So you are not accepting that one side had a far more pervasive issue with the problem, just that it occurred on both cards regardless of how lopsided the numbers were. In which case you can list every GPU ever made and say it also had black screen occurrences. π
p.s dont get me wrong, I think the black screen issue with 5700xt only involved a minority of users but due to the large numbers sold also had a large number of reports with the issue. Still think the 5700xt is a good card for the money today (with this issue largely resolved).

What I meant is that it seems only 1 out of the 3 links could be a black screen issue with an RTX2070, last link was an RTX 2060 btw.
I fully understand what your saying, of course you can find RTX 2070's that black screen, would be weird if those didn't exist and also weird to claim such.
Also, most people wouldn't even bother to post about it but simply just RMA the card.

Still not entirely fixed, or amd wouldn't be tracking reports still (as stated in the release notes)
This needs to be downvoted / corrected anytime it comes up

This key combo does not reset the driver in any shape or form, and I have confirmation of that from the DirectX team.

And again
Meaningless search, also FYI, AMD Tech comanies in general have toxic marketing partners that create one post accounts and drop threads of this nature and others, assuming nothing has chanced since the late 2000's.
Real people looking for answers return to follow up on any replies, most of those have had a reply and the op is never heard from again, I would know, i've read all of them and replied with steps on pinpointing the actual source (ps, its not in the drivers.)
