There's nothing funny going on, it's just the size of files now. Think back to a game like Half Life. Back then the goldsrc engine couldn't handle a texture larger than 512x512(or 768x384, etc). Most of the textures in the game were 128x128 or smaller. That along with sounds, bsp for the levels, models, sprites, and animation data(at the time compiled with the textures into the models) came out to be around ~400M install. Today most game engines can handle HUGE texture sizes, but most games will release them at 2048x2048 and 4096x4096. Now let's compare the size of those textures. 128x128 = 48K 4096x4096 = 48M Do you see what just happened? All of a sudden the file size is 1000 times bigger. Now, obviously these textures undergo some sort of compression like DXT1,5, etc. Now this is only for textures, think about how incredibly more complicated the game engines have been become(sheer size of the engine for code) along with all the content which contains HUGE amounts of data. At the end of the day though, I agree that 50G seems excessive, but for the new 4k gaming age, that's just the way it's going to be. It would be nice if Steam had an option for downloading a game for say the 1080p/1440p version, and the 4k version. Honestly you can't see the difference in 90% of textures if they were 4096x4096 or 2048x2048(or even 1024x1024) on a 1080p resolution.

What we need is 4K Textures that are 1 MB without quality loss. Same with 50GB Blueray to 2-4GB.

Glad to see system requirements are starting to be more down to earth with this , gta 5 and even witcher 3.

The size of the game isn't strictly based on how good the graphics are. Wasn't like half of Titanfalls's size due to uncompressed audio?

35 of 48gb. Just under 3/4, compressed it probably would have been 17gb total or something. But i'll assume evolve isn't going to be that stupid.
