Just a single 980M? Why not a 980 or two? Or at least two 980Ms in SLI? A really odd choice, especially considering the price point.

Now you can massively overclock a notebook for even more throttling! Yay, for only €1000 more than the competition!

This is why we don't buy prebuilt.

Not that convinced that the cooling system will be any good considering it's a slim laptop. If they want to market it as overclockable then it would be better suited to a more beefy laptop with better cooling system. I do like the idea that they've not locked down the BIOS though & the fact that you can tweak in the BIOS - that's very refreshing! You can overclock laptops anyway, it's nothing new. Too expensive this laptop, plus old tech now with Pascal on the doorstep.

Really the only reason for a laptop is you can carry it. This is not light! Seriously buy a desktop and a car, I would bring my cosmos case to work before I spent 3k on a laptop for less than half the power.

Well, at least the minimalist design looks pretty good and clean. The price & specs... not so much.

I nearly choked on my cappuccino when i saw that price, lol. Well some people have more money than sense so i suppose it will sell. Just look at Apple/Mac buyers to see people over spending on overpriced electronic goods. 🙂

Can you even see the difference between 1440p (or whatever the nearest available resolution is) and 4K on a 17in screen?

Depends on distance from the screen and how good your eyes are. The upper limit of visual acuity is roughly 120 PPD. A 4K, a 17 inch screen being viewed at roughly 2' away is only 111 PPD. So if you have really good vision, say 20/10, then even 4K isn't enough at 2'. They would need to go either higher or you'd need to sit further from the screen to completely remove aliasing in high contrast areas. Whether or not people find that necessary is another matter.

It's the Victim Edition ™

Well, with eSport getting bigger, companies can actually buy this for their Pro Players. Pro players move a lot and do practice on the move, in the hotels and other places where setting PC is not an option. Since its companies who has cash and no idea what PC specs are, they just buy the best advertised product. Buying this as individual is obviously overkill.

I agree. This gaming laptop is very weak compared to the 15 months (?!?) MSI GT80 beast: http://www.guru3d.com/news-story/msi-gt80-titan-game-laptop-has-mech-keys-and-gets-2x-gtx-980m.html Still the best pre-built (branded) gaming laptop.
Agreed. I was lucky enough to see and use the MSI GT80 Titan in person. It's the real deal and is super quick. Only issue, why the low resolution of only 1080P? If only it went upto 2,560 x 1,440. This would be great for older titles or games not demanding too much horse power. Say Half-Life 2 or Counter-Strike Source. Why play it at 1080P on a GTX 980 in SLI if you can run it maxed at 2,560 x 1,440? At least there should be an option to upgrade to a higher resolution screen!

At least you get a decent OS and resale value with Apple products, this is just ludicrous 😀
