Looks like i5 8600K is going to be closer to 300 euros over here if it's that much in Germany already. Not that it'd matter to me personally with Intel's decision of dropping the support of the previous two chipset gens.

Well in my honest opinion, i think it it €100-€120 too much, comparing with the price tag on caseking.de
The new coffee lake I7 is 7.56% faster then the 1600X at stock speed, using the leaked benchmarks by intel, it uses "Colgate TIM" vs soldered on AMD.
And people should stock comparing the new I7 with ryzen 7, the best and most honest comparison is vs 1600X.
My 1600X is a gold cpu (got lucky) it is clocked to 4.2GHZ all clocks with just 1.362V, and its uses a cheap air cooler and i manage to stay under 68ºC all the time. But the for all the ryzens that i build until now i have always managed to get 4.1 on the 1600X using no more then 1.37V.
I still think that at 1080 or 1440 the 1600X is king with either a RX 580/GTX1060 for 1080P, GTX1070/GTX1080/GTX1080TI/RXVEGA56 for 1440P. Because the difference in performance at 1080p is not more then 2 digit,

In aus the 7700k is $459 and the 1800x is $659....even if the 8700k was $659 it would still be a way better cpu for the money, especially for gamers.

Non-soldered / heat issues / One time mobo.

Those prices are what I expected but not what I hoped for.
Now the gaming performance will determine if those prices worth it.

So it´s basically the same prices as the previous 7700/7600K but with 2 extra cores.
I would be interested in the 8600K if it worked with my MB but it doesn´t so i´ll save the money for a future GPU.
I´m curious to see how well those parts are going to overclock with two more cores knowing how hot the 7700K can be with just 4 cores...

It's a shame we had to wait for AMD to make a move so Intel would release this and some people don't even see that.
If AMD didn't exist, I would never need to get rid of my i5 2500k. Shame on you Intel, shame on you.

I'm still running 3570K so 8700K looks pretty tempting 🙂

fasamir: Nope, it won't beat it.
If you check benchmarks, yes.
The 8600K will be slower in games compared to the 7700K. That's 99% probability.
