So, no Bethesda products on the PS5...I can deal with that. Fallout IP gets a new game engine...I can deal with that. Skyrim gets a new game engine...I can deal with that.

Skyrim will receive updates via Windows Update.

I have never seen Microsoft improve anything they purchased, in any way meaningful to me at least

Oh knackers!

AGREED.Oh Knackers. So all these games will be for sale exclusive to M$ store, nodiggertynodoubt. and will have massive price tags for ever. Just like COD4 remastered and no bargain bucket games to be had at CD keys of said franchises.

Why do American companies need the EU's permission?

Weather you agree with the purchase or not, no denying it's a major coup for Microsoft and a bit of a genius move.

As long as Microsoft keeps supporting the older games like Bethesda is now I have no issues with this. If M$ drops the support then there will be issues and refunds a many.

Totaly bugged Bethesda games will auto update with windows. Good news.

Because America isn't the center of the world, they have to do with the law of other country...

Wouldn't even use the word "deal" with those statements :x it's about time they use a modern engine.

In a world that also has Alphabet and Facebook, Microsoft somehow seems less evil than years ago. To be honest, this is probably good news for the Bethesda gaming franchises.

That's like being a tourist in another country and break the laws of that country saying "chill out! It's legal in my country!" as though that somehow make you immune. MS didn't make the purchase just so they could sell products to Americans. If they want to sell elsewhere, they need to be permitted. Even if you're a resident of the US, you should know this. Different states have different laws, and if a state has a big enough market (in particular, California), an entire industry can be forced to revolve around their laws and regulations.

Microsoft is actually a lot less evil. They're not so cutthroat like they used to be, and they actually are contributing toward various open source or competing products. As for Bethesda, with the way things were heading, this certainly won't be worse for them.

I doubt that, actually. All of Microsoft'ss recent first party PC releases are on Steam too. Ultimately, they still need to be able to make money.

Yeah... I thought that was interesting... it's almost as if they figured out the majority of people do not want to use the Microsoft Store.

Hotmail 1997 Bungie 2000 Lionhead 2006 (this was pre-fable remember and I guess they are being recalled to make a new title too now in 2021) Then more recent stuff like Mojang, Linked in etc. In terms of meaningful to you they had to throw a lot of cash at the wall to see what sticks but they're pretty successful at buying hundreds of little known high value tech companies powering the cameras, AI, vehicles and cloud world we are living in. If their acquisitions never took place the FTSE100 would look vastly different today and we would all be using a different ecosystem of tech to buy, sell, conduct business and secure our digital credentials plus we'd be tracked and policed in a totally different way in our day to day lives.

Microsoft despite of Xbox, never felt like gaming company.. they will bury Bethesda, because they will kill creativity..

So, when Bethesda bought Fallout from Interplay...creativity increased or decreased?
