So that'll be £599 at least then.

I'm glad they dropped the R. That just made things unnecessarily confusing. Though considering how close they are to launch date, makes me wonder if any of their printed boxes and documentation are incorrect? Or do they do that later? Anyway, that sucks about the tax.

So the lowest model will be within 20-30euro range of i7-6800k. Unless it performs marginally better, I don't see myself going AMD.

6 vs 8 cores - why pay more for less, especially if the performance is better with the latter? :3eyes:

That's why I said "unless it performs marginally better", if it's the same and I know that Intel has no problems, while AMDs platform will be plagued by problems in the first 6-12 months, I'd definitely go Intel.

Because for some weird reason, people keep insisting that these are priced according to performance relative to Intel products, even though there is plenty of evidence that says otherwise. Getting caught in a hype is a really bad idea, but, I'd say its worse when people state conclusions about products with little to no evidence (based on what I've seen from other threads anyway). I mean really, its shocking how many people think AMD's SMT will behave so similarly to Intel's HT that they already think they know exactly how it will perform, even completely disregarding the IPC, which in of itself we know even less about. People need to stop making decisions and just wait.

It's the 1700 models that are the important parts. You get unlocked multipliers and 8 high performance cores for the price of a 7700k.

Let's wait for the official benchmark...

I heard all models could be overclocked, where the chipset was the limiting factor. It wouldn't surprise me if this ends up not being true; there has to be some reason other than frequency why these 8 core models have such a drastic price difference. I'm guessing number of PCIe lanes or maybe L3 cache would have something to do with it. But we'll just have to wait and see.

Here (Denmark) that would put the lowest at almost 100 euro less than the 6800k and around 20 euro cheaper than a 7700k. The highest model is about half the price of the 6900k that sits at 1180ish euro. If this pricing is relative to the performance that would put them at worse performance than the FX series.

If it's like this, it's fine but the 7700 is currently 360 euro here and the 6800 is 440 euro.

Is that 4.0ghz base clock? That is higher than expected if that is the case. AMD: Ryzen 7 1800X 4.0GHZ 8 CORE (YD180XBCAEMPK)

Yeah, I wonder if these are base clocks too. If they are...

Buggers. I was hoping to go for 8core model, but if this is the pricing, ugh... So far it seems i´ll be going for 1600x. I could go for 1700 series, but with only 65w, i don´t know well it could oc. But like always, i´ll wait for Hilbert to give us great reviews on these products, then i´ll decide.

Y'know.... 65W is just the estimated TDP. It's not the actual wattage, and even if it were, the wattage is based directly on the voltage and frequency. When overclocking, nothing is stopping you from increasing both except the motherboard itself. In other words, 65W isn't the CPU's limit, and you can make a 65W part exceed 100W if you really wanted to.

Their boost clocks.

Those prices seem quite high for the 1700 since 6700k can be bought for 299 eur over here

If you work in retail you could also just take advantage of the summer deal coming up in a few months. https://retailedge.intel.com/50/landing -- Deal 1 - Intel i7-6850K Legends: $169.00 USD Masters: $179.00 USD Apprentices: $199.00 USD Deal 2 - Intel i7-6700K Legends: $109.00 USD Masters: $119.00 USD Apprentices: $134.00 USD Shipping $12.50 (USD)—Continental U.S. $30.00 (USD)—Hawaii or Alaska $38.00 (USD)—Canada or Puerto Rico Those prices are from the Holiday deal they had in December, however prices will be the same and will be most likely offering the kaby lakes by May for their summer deal. Time to get cranking on those "learning" activities.

Not going to go with low end MB either, but cheers for that piece of info. Is there a short asnwer, why there is 65w and 95w versions?
