Loot boxes in general need to be banned. I have no idea how law makers are still letting this gambling in video games go on without any real regulation.

Settling this with mostly ingame currency. Costs the company nothing at all. Accounts from under aged players that want compensation in real money could be closed. Have fun to explain your kid why his account is gone for 50$ more in your pocket. Compensation is virtually capped at 50$ and conditional. Total settlement amount 26.5 million $ for what earned them probably ten times of that or more. If lootbox settlements work like this all over, it's cheap af for the companies, they'll take it with a grin.

It's essentially monopoly money to them. Epic made wayyyy more than the settlement. It'd be nice to end this in-game lootbox stuff, but the gravy train is rolling already and publishers likely will not give it up that easy.

Opens the door for more. However, I can imagine settlements of $50 for csgo and it's kin would be laughed at in court, which could bring cases like this back to court to adjust the settlement to reflect the true amounts being spent per customer.

im sure law makers are getting payed to look the other way, loot box and cashshops/micortransation added to games imo one worst thing to happen to gaming in most cases there making more money from those cashshops/lootbox/microtransations then actual selling the games and they have to nerve to increase the price games initial purchase. Loot box are basic online gambling with virtual items yet cause it "virtual" has almost no oversight.

many things in game itself is gambling (luck-based) ... such in-game drop rate ... critical hit, etc. that random happening what make game fun so how come just blaming the loot-box that not even "needed" to puchase in first place ? yeah there some games is p2win ... if u hate p2win then dont play it ... there tons of games to choose, so if u play it/enjoy it, then its ur fault nowdays most game have online feature... online feature means need servers, so who will pay for server cost? just sell game once wont make them profit in long-term subscription model isnt good anymore, many players will step out as soon as hearing subscription-needed thus thing turn into f2p with loot-box model afaik there not much full-game + loot-box ... most game that we paid is more like full-game and what full-game got usually DLCs, not loot-box and usually we dont need DLCs to enjoy the game either, only if u want more then u should get those DLCs so whats wrong with additional-contents? u asking they should include on the game u bought? complaining those wont change anything, many will just tell u "git better job, bro" afterall what u expect? game-company are also business company, make profit is obvious things
