And how about that nice sticky garbage leftover after a year or so of that aforementioned tape being heated up and cooled?? I'm sure one could improvise, but the electrical tape isn't even a band aid its a nuisance.

It's a RGB header. If it's being heated up that much, you've got other problems to worry about. Also, a quick wipe with isopropyl alcohol or methylated spirits gets rid of any residue if I ever need to clean it up.
