Before the patch, the game would eat up all my 8 GBs available and it would stutter horribly when reaching beyond 7.5 GBs, and would crash if I didn't allow at least 12 GB of virtual memory. Now, I rarely see beyond 5 GB of usage. Took them a while though to fix that memory leak, or should I say memory black hole. Unfortunately I had already finished the game, so a little to late.

I dont think it was a memory leak. I feel that the engine was not coded right and the game wasnt streaming the textures the right way. this game was also for console correct? I read some where that there is a problem with porting from the new console to pc because the memory managment is handled differently(gpu and system memory is shared together). and that is what is causing the memory issues with windows.

This patch is giving me quite a nice boost in performance. I just beat the game and maxed out my skill trees. My Weapons are 2,500-3,000 damage and I have a lot of awesome blueprints. After I beat the game, it unlocked a hard mode called "New Game Plus". So I am going to give it another go. Maybe you should also try the New Game Plus playthrough. You get to keep everything from your first playthrough so that is pretty good. It also lets you choose how far back you want to go in the story when you start. I went ahead and started from the beginning and this time I will take more time and do all of the side missions.

This is likely the case. According to Nvidia's optimization guide, the only difference between high and medium texture setting is caching. They use the same textures as far as anyone can tell; they just preload a lot more. Probably due to poor streaming.

Game runs really smooth for me, outside sometimes can drop pretty low 25-40 fps but i have the view distance up pretty high. Plus i have all the Nvidia settings all on and maxed out. For some reason i can't get V-sync to work and the card runs away sometimes producing 500fps (indoors) or cut scenes. I hate that grain effect, it's still there when i turn it off but it's a lot less noticeable. I also hate the snow effect or ash or whatever it is, plus the huge flocks of crows causes huge frames drop when you look directly in that direction. Still the game plays absolutely fine now after this patch and i'm actually enjoying it now even if it is a rip off from other games before it.

I don't think vsync will work unless you have it on in NVCP under your Dying Light profile. At least for me, It wont give me the option to select it ingame if I don't turn it on in the profile. Of course once I do that I dont even need the ingame option.

Crossfire still doesn't utilize more that 56% per card, but at least the game runs smooth with maxed out settings with V-sync, with the exception of the occasional slowdown/choppiness/pausing. Poorly optimized engine is an understatement. If anyone with AMD cards is experiencing flickering with CFX enabled, turn off AMD Optimized Tessellation in CCC.

really neat patch, gained like 10-15 fps and there's lower ram usage
