Good if true. Haven't bought RAM in some time now but tbh, 16GB (2x8) Gskill Trident Z (no RGB) CL14 3200MHz still cost more than 2016.

Best time ever for having affordable prices for RAM. Will compensate with high prices for X570 boards.

I smell 32gb in my future!

It's about time, I should say. But, much as I'd like to pickup some cheap ram, the fact is that I rarely use the entire 16GBs I have! Still, I could buy something cheap to go with my current mobo when I pick up an x570 mboard--pass it on to the wife. Still collating...!

Yawn..... wake me up if the price of this ram G.Skill F4-3200C14D-32GTZ (2x16gb) is sold at 250 dollars or less

Yeah my 16gb kit is more than enough , but if they get too low for a 32 gb kit with a nice ryzen 3xxx it will most likely last me till ddr5 is mainstream and on shane prices like always ddr life time cycle does, i am not getting near maxing my 16 gb yet but some times it peaks at 11-12 gb mostly because i am wasteful , week old open chrome tabs ... Anyway i am not sure 16 gb will be enough in 3-5 years.

Well, at least this trade war did something productive.

I don't think RAM usage is really going to go up a whole lot more. With the exception of Chrome and video games, RAM consumption has overall been stagnant in everyday programs for several years, and I don't suspect that's ever going to change. Of course, many (though not all) pro/workstation and server programs will always take advantage of more RAM where available. Frankly, I think the amount of RAM usage in most programs is way too high for what they're processing. Programmers sure are getting lazy nowadays.

@schmidtbag yeah most likely 16 will be at least enough if you are nit wasteful . Still 32gb for dirt cheap ....i am a human i can resist temptation so much before i give in ! :P

Can anyone explain why the trade war caused a drop in RAM instead of the opposite? Thanks.

I too found this weird, but my guess is the price drop is meant to compensate for the tariff prices. After all, it's been pretty obvious that the increase in RAM prices was mostly artificial, so, I'm sure the manufacturers have some headroom for the extra cash they get and are willing to sacrifice it to prevent people getting angry that prices have gone up again. That being said, I doubt the US is going to see much of a price drop, but everywhere else will.

DRAMeXchange , a division of TrendForce , points out that, as ripples from the US ban continue to spread, Huawei's shipments of smartphone and server products are feared to face heavy obstacles for the next two to three quarters , impacting peak-season-demand for DRAM products 2H and the time of price precipitation. TrendForce officially adjusts its outlook for 3Q DRAM prices from its original prediction of a 10% decline to a widened 10-15%.

Thanks guys for the explanation, I definitely appreciate. The timing with the release of Ryzen 2 is pretty good, I might finally upgrade from 2600k/16GB.

Unfortunately, since Samsung stopped producing B-Dies, those kind of modules are not likely to drop quite as far as stuff thats still in production.

My guess is that due to higher prices, lack of demand for products that embed DRAM has caused an over supply of DRAM. EDIT and now I see it's already been answered!

So tariffs have effectively helped lower the dram prices for the entire world EXCEPT for America. That extra 25% that the rest of the world saves? In the USA, we will get to pay that part to our government in the form of a new tax. So this is winning?

That's $269 on newegg right now and was $254.99 not that long ago, if that extra $19 on that ram really puts you out, then you should probably not worry about a $250 dollar pair of ram.

Great news for all of us who are upgrading this year.

No doubt getting 32GB for my Ryzen 3000 build now. A 32GB Crucial 3200 MHz kit costs about €180 right now here in the Netherlands. Also going to upgrade my SSD from 256GB to 1TB (€140), though i will just get a SATA600 M.2.

I'd like to know what is the logic behind saying the price will come down due to trade wars. I'd say that due to new imposed taxes and other stuff, the price would stop going down or even go up.
