How come this isn't on the main page for drivers?

I have a feeling that NVIDIA found out that just like with their cards of the current and previous generation, it is enough to do an undervolt and you lose max 2-3% of performance but the consumption drops by 100W or even slightly more.

It is not an "undervolt" until there is a defined value, which has not happened yet. At this stage they are testing various possibilities on the "frequency/voltage" curve for the chip, which is why there are so many different values in these "leaks". The final value they decide depends, among other things, on how they think the competition will be. They do not want to look bad in benchmarks, and if it is necessary to sacrifice consumption, then they will do it, even if they go out of the optimum of that curve.

Would like to have a simple voltage slider in the driver that allowed one click undervolting. 🙁

Agree. Nvidia should have something like wattman so you can undervolt and overclock via nvcp.

Ideally better than Wattman, i.e. stable and reliable API over generations and years of driver versions. 🙂

I did exactly that. I followed this suggestion and undervolted my 3080 to 825 mV/1805 MHz using MSI Afterburner. I may have lost 1-2% fps if any, and now my 3080 is both cooler and uses 80W less power. I suggest to everybody to do this for your stable 24/7 configuration and those long gaming sessions.

I went nVidia about one year ago, but the last ~2 years of AMD software worked great. Not only did the basic driver have good overclocking/underclocking support, it is also PER GAME, so you can have an undervolt in one game and an overclock in another.

Great driver so far, installed over previous (+ reset settings in NVCP, set again + Inspector Tweaks). All fine. Tested: BF2042, FH5, Last Epoch, MtG A & Solasta.

Driver benchmarks faster than previous 516.xx drivers and no issues so far. Keepers for me.
