this driver packages the profile update already available to 471.11 (by restarting the pc or the nvidia display container ls service). After looking at a few of users crash dumps, the problem is actually an access violation occurring in the game that leads to the driver rightfully generating an illegal instruction exception and performing a TDR to recover from the faulty state. Systems that have screwed with the TDR period or disabled it encounter a system hang or bsod instead of a Soft black screen, the profile assumedly enables a capability of vulkan to ignore exceptions and continue to operate without resetting the driver - this was previously enabled globally. Id have presumably been notified.

Its almost like they're allocating more resources to future OSes or something with all the bugs lately.
Either that or they're just not devoting resources into making decent drivers at all considering their drivers for over a year now have been dogshit at best. It's just frustrating every time I stop and think about the state of nVidia's drivers. It's as if they break two things for each thing they fix. I haven't been this inconvenienced by terrible drivers since I had a Radeon 6970, yes it was so long ago that AMD have done a full lap and come back to the same numbers. To remind you, back then every thread about AMD was a meme about how their latest drivers killed someone's family, their drivers were that terrible. These nVidia drivers for the last year+ have been just as bad. I'm just waiting to discover what this new hotfix broke for me.

you're likely not experiencing cutouts, but the receiver going to sleep.

If it had been fixed it would have been included in the release notes. I'm not going to install it since there is no fix in it that my system/games need, would be a waste of time.

Receiver obviously doesn't go to sleep with 466.27, so what is changed that makes it go to sleep?

Fair enough, but how can someone like Bedouille69 prevent it from doing so with newer drivers? Or is that a bug introduced by fixing a bug?

Why releasing this hotfix, if the whql is shit this one also will be shit

The receiver doesn't sleep. The audio cuts randomly for 1/2 second. It occurs in games or even windows. Everything perfect with 466.27

Well ya it is clear that their QA is not allocating enough time (or people) to test the releases. Or maybe the automated QA pass test is not testing all situations (who knows). On the other hand though, at least they react pretty fast to fix things (some taking more time).
Or maybe the fact that we're getting bugfixes this often is a direct result of them actually allocating a lot of time and people to QA. With that point of view a company which never releases a driver with bugfixes has the best QA in the business.

Some displays screen resolution limited to 640x480 after driver update [3330750] I just had this one happen on the 471.11 driver all of a sudden. Luckily I saw the hotfix yesterday listing it as a fixed issue, otherwise I would have probably got a scare thinking my 3090 went to hell.

The 471.11 whql driver is shit, so fixing 2-3 things does not mean its ok, for exemple i dont play doom, so for me nothing is fixed, not hard to understand this 😉

I think you could backup the HDMI part of that driver, install new releases, delete the new HDMI driver, and then install the backuped one

Hey, that's my TV! What's going on? Should I be concerned? I have a 3080 FE and occasional sound issues like clicks and pops. However, I can't use Dolby (Dolby Access) at all while plugged in directly or into my receiver. However, 4K 120hz at 10 bit is currently working well.
