Nice, Quake 2 RTX ready with support for some new Vulkan extensions for the latest update for that title and a update on the latest known issues though no additional listed fixes listed over 460.79 at least in the PDF could still have other undocumented changes. 🙂 EDIT: From the PDF it's these bits.
Game Ready for Quake II RTX with Vulkan Ray Tracing Our latest Game Ready Driver provides support for the Quake II RTX v1.4.0 update which enables support for the new Vulkan Ray Tracing extensions. Now, any GPU with support for Vulkan Ray Tracing can experience Quake II RTX in all its path-traced glory.
Open issues:
Windows 10 Issues [Nicehash, other mining software]: Mining software does not recognize the NVIDIA GPU. [3200758] [GeForce GTX 1080 Ti]: The desktop screen may flicker. [3200599] [Steam VR game]: Stuttering and lagging occur upon launching a game. [3152190] [HDR]: With HDR enabled, black levels are incorrect. [200682795] [G-SYNC][NVIDIA Ampere GPU architecture]: GPU power consumption may increase in idle mode on systems using certain higher refresh-rate G-SYNC monitors. [200667566] {YouTube}: Video playback stutters while scrolling down the YouTube page. [3129705] [Notebook]: Some Pascal-based notebooks w/ high refresh rate displays may randomly drop to 60Hz during gameplay. [3009452] [G-Sync][Vulkan Apps]: Performance drop occurs when using G-SYNC and switching from full-screen mode to windowed mode using the in-game settings. [200681477 ]To workaround, either launch the game in windowed mode directly or disable G-SYNC. [GeForce RTX 3070][Clone Mode]: When the resolution is set to 2560x1440 @ 144Hz, the performance state is stuck at maximum performance. [200678414] [NVIDIA Turing or later][Windows Movies and TV Player]: When playing a 4k video in full-screen mode on a 2560x1440 HDR monitor, the video extends beyond the edge of the screen. [3186830]

shouldn't be any changes from 460.79 where newly added issues are concerned, there hasn't been enough time to put any changes through QA. no fixed issues list.

little offtopic ... Good to know that Quake II RTX support Vulkan RT, unfortunately it's crashing on AMD cards 😳

They should have fixed it with those drivers... it's a pretty high priority issue.

maybe they should have the installer restart ("start"), because every time I update the drivers, I have to restart ("start") so that my start menu work again.

No fix for the 1080 Ti flicker issue. Ok -> NoGo!

you don't have to restart, ctrl+shift+esc and kill startmenu experience host. Also, still a windows bug.

It has a workaround, so its not high priority, use a lower refresh rate or use max performance. As far as i'm aware, 144hz is as high as pascal can go before getting flickers at 2d idle clocks, and even 144hz isn't safe from blanking, MDPS turns my screen a solid grey when i let it do its thing and its not specific to this driver.

Not on older drivers.

Did some benches, same as 460.79, no différence at all, they just added the RT feature, no performance gain no bug fixed, and i think this is the last driver for this year.

Here's a little conundrum: In GPU Caps Viewer, I can't find the extension "VK_KHR_ray_tracing_pipeline" with this driver. Quake 2 RTX still runs anyway, but I wonder why the new extensions aren't listed there. Or does GPU Caps Viewer just need an update?

I didnt mean restart the system. I meant ending that process and letting it restart. but still annoying thing. eh... I have task manager running all the time............................................

I'd be surprised if there isn't one more driver...

Well now, thought I was one of the few who restarted that container / process because some of the driver updates made it very crash prone (Which restarts it anyway but WER takes forever to log the thing and dump it. :P ) good to know that's a OS specific issue and not AMD and Realtek.

VK_KHR_ray_tracing_pipeline requires vk 1.2.162, these are 1.2.155 (and have a 1.2.148 loader) the extension is there for application use, but its not going to be listed using the caps viewer.
