Tried fiddling with memory clocks or older drivers?
I dont know if I correctly understood the meaning of "fiddling" but yes, i use older driver (13.10 whql), the problem appeared since 13.11 Beta 2 or 3, dunno. It's a memory clock 2D to 3D switch problem (i think so). It happens only on 7970 or 7970ghz if you look at the topic about 9.2 drivers, people reporting it have only these cards

Thank you, runs great on my HD6970 and another good thing about this driver, is that they've made it optional to install Gaming Evolved, or not. http://oi41.tinypic.com/2607ifs.jpg

AC4 will never work better on AMD hardware, just like AC3 even today runs like crap.

So I guess that I should skip this set. Currently it is the only game I am playing... It a shame that nVidia managed to get out drivers immediately upon the game was released, but AMD cannot.

Played for well over an hour, no black screens except when I went too far on the Memory OC. Seems this card is slightly worse than previous one, I am at 1350MHz memory right now, rock solid with Battlefield 4. 🙂 I'll try the Core tomorrow, but it looks like it will be somewhere between 1110 and 1125MHz, close to previous card. I'll slap the waterblock tomorrow! 😀

Quite surprised Asder00 didn't post this.. Anyways, thanks OP, will test it out 🙂

What kinds of improvement in AC4 are you guys looking for? Everything is glorious over here. 40-55fps in most areas, all options on high/ultra, 4xmsaa. I won't flat out lie though and tell you I don't dip hard into the 30's in some scenarios but, otherwise, it really is a smooth experience. Oh, and vsync disabled, no excessive tearing that can't be attributed to simply having vsync off. That's with 9.2, I will test out 9.4 tonight.

5 min Unigine Heaven benchmark and black screen, computer locks up and reset doesn't help. No go for me 🙁

Does it fix the display jumping issue on 7970 ? Thanks !
not likely. uninstall drivers via "Programs and Features". Go to: C:\Users\\AppData\Local\ATI\ACE Delete Everything. Reboot. Install again. If not fixed, create in CCC new profile. Go to path above and copy content from "Profiles.xml" Into your profile located in "Profiles" subfolder. Find: Change Bold from: 30000 to 75000 and 15000 to 45000 and save Go to CCC, load your modifications, card will no longer go under 450/750MHz and stop screen jumps. Power consumption on idle 12W will go to 22W.

*Bunch of important and interesting things*
Nice post!

Will give them credit Need for speed rivals new xfire profile is working fine, not stuttering anymore though there is a slight frames dips here and there but over all smooth. --------------- as for AC4 i can not believe its not optimized more, i mean hell i thought porting over from consoles now was going to be a lot easier cause xboxone and ps4 are both using same code or hardware that we pc users are using so should be not hard to port well thats what the devs where all blathering on about so i dont know why its running like **** for some people... though i have said it again apart from the vsync issue in the game being its none existent just use radeon pro and limit frames to 30fps then max the game out and its butter city and looks gorgeous and runs pretty smooth...

I've gained a few FPS. Doesn't seem to stutter very much anymore.

No offense, but do you really think i should do all this stuff to get my 1yo card working with the new driver... :3eyes: ? These problems are 13.11 related as i do not have any of these display jumping with 13.10, 13.9 and so on... I will try the driver, if it is not resolved, i'll go back to 13.10 (again), waiting for AMD to do something... maybe i'll be able to use new driver before half 2014 !! Edit : As for the uninstall, i'm deleting everything each time i'm switching driver, but thanks for advice 🙂 Edit 2 : But as i can see, you seems to know a lot more technical stuff on the problem than me, if you could send the problem to AMD, i'll appreciate 🙂
