Does AMD FreeSync work on laptops with AMD GPU or APU?

Is the screen on the laptop freesync capable? I mean, you are aware you need a monitor that has freesync? I don't think there are any laptops out yet that do freesync.

Actually it is quite the opposite, first "freesync compatible" displays are exactly laptop ones. The technology originated from there actually, some laptop displays used to delay the refresh rate in order to save power, heck freesync was first demoed on one of these.

Single GPU freesync support was added in 15.3. "optimisations and fixes for some AMD FreeSync™ technology capable products and displays" Means nothing. Which products and displays receive "optimization and fixes"? It will be informative to have some kind of....information.:)

Should be...
i get better fps in some games
This driver (15.4.1) AFIK is simply a minor update of 15.4 drivers to specifically optimize and fix some freesync things nothing more. It should works EXACTLY the same in games. If we had access to the changelog this will definitely solves this and other question...

Think one the fixes is aimed towards the AMA bug with BenQ
Good news. Looks like those are the updated AMD drivers needed, but current screens will still require a firmware update to fix overdrive + freesync bug. Working with BenQ to find out more and hopefully test new firmware soon

First Bug! Youtube Video starts of with a Black screen Chrome.

Working with BenQ to find out more and hopefully test new firmware soon That doesn't sound good at all. 🙁 If fixes and performances improvements in freesync can't be solved only in the drivers side but also requires a firmware update of monitors this will be a major problem: VERY FEW monitors provide an easy way to update (change) his firmware, normally it's not even posible for the customer.

This isn't anything related to how FreeSync is performing! Its a Bug BenQ didn't remove. This bug is when you have the monitor connected to DisplayPort on a compatible FreeSync monitor the AMA setting will not allow you to change it.. I personally switch off AMA anyways so not big loss to me. But because this is a Monitor issue it needs fixing from the monitor point..

Same 2D, D3D, OGL and Mantle version numbers as the previous 15.4 driver so nothing new there, main packaging version is also the same 14.502.1014.xxxx with the last couple of numbers differing. (From what I know these version numbers have remained the same since the end of 2014, focus is on the Windows 10 driver branches I guess with the OS nearing release.) AMD CCC is newer (Isn't it always?) and the AMD Accelerated Video component was also newer than the one in 15.4.0 but I don't think there will be any major differences with these drivers and the earlier 15.4 ones besides these added FreeSync compatibility fixes or what they were. 🙂 (As per the almost non-existent patch notes on the AMD beta webpage.)
