Rocket Man?!?! Using that in the preview is an ode to noobs. Chaingun for the win.

Doom 3 took me ages to finish, but I don't rush through games like some people who just like to brag on forums they finished it in two hours so never see the whole game! For Doom 3 I've seen anywhere from 10 to 15 hours for just the main game and 30+ hours if you like to be a completionist, so I fall into the 30+ hours, so if it's as long as that i'll be happy, if not then wait for a sale!!

I'm excited for 13+ hours. If they are focusing on multiplayer like they say they are it is nice to see them still have a decent FPS story. I'm getting tired of the 5-8 hour campaigns in Battlefield and COD

I'm glad they're putting a good amount of single player into it; I'll definitely be buying this. That trailer is... weird? I actually think the song could have worked quite well if a) the combat pace matched the song and b) it showcased the rocket launcher capabilities. Maybe they were going for a little humor with the juxtaposition in game/song cadence, but given that this art seems to be long forgotten, I don't think so. If the video was, instead, a series of slowed-down vignettes of various rocket launcher kills (and rocket jumping if that's a feature), it would have scored a lot more points with me. I mean, really, that actually sounds so entertaining that I'm tempted to make my own Rocket Man trailer for some version of Doom paced properly just because it would be cool.
Maybe this will actually get me to stop playing Borderlands 2 for a while, although being limited to what appears to be the equivalent of a Vladof launcher with enough Torgue parts to put the brakes on the rocket speed/fire rate as my only launcher option (like a Ruthless Hero or something)... it'll still be fun for a slower change of pace.

The game it self looks soooo soooo good.
But with the recent news that on PC it will have the following issues....
1) hard locked 60fps (like previous ID games)
2) No SLI/Crossfire support (like previous ID games)
3) No high refresh rate support locked again at 60Hz
4) And the last nail in the coffin... the game is meant to detect your hardware and configure what it thinks is the graphics settings for your system!! NO GRAPHICS OPTIONS MENU!!!
Hopefully these are just problems in the alpha build, however I have cancelled my preorder for the game until I hear otherwise.

Odd 13 hours is not much and people are happy about that, what happened to decent length single player games that took weeks to complete? If IDTech6 is anything like IDTech5 this game will be a mess, all the games on version 5 of this engine suffer from texture issues, lack of multi graphics card support. Consoles have ruined gaming especially on the pc, and now the globally acceptable of policy of dlc

Doom, as well as Doom 2. It sounds like it's a similar length to Doom 3 + Expansion.
I don't think I've ever in my life played a game that took literal weeks to complete, and I've been playing them since the 80's.
Thirteen hours for a FPS campaign isn't bad at all, if it was an RPG or something I might be put off. It's longer than the original airbud7

This is the only game I have ever pre-ordered. I can't wait. I'll be playing this on as hard as I can take so it will probably take me more than 13 hours.

I´m not fan of this game but finaly FINALY a game who has more then 5 hours Story.
Finaly a game with a decente 13h of Singleplayer...
But... most games should have more than 15h of Campaing, right? I mean, why most companys now focus on Online and Coop and ignore Single-Player?
Metro has alote Hours of gameplay and Far Cry 3 or 4 too but most of games are tooo short. Like GTA V (Main missions are short)...
But well, let´s see how this game will make it 😉
Miss the days of LONGE Singleplayer fun....

Consoles absolutely ruined PC gaming. There is no argument, unless your under 30..Maybe even 35. I remember when single player ruled and multiplayer was tacked on. Certain games just don't need multiplayer. Doom needs multiplayer and co op. But it also needs a good single player campaign. We don't need all this DLC BS.. All they are doing is getting you to pay $120 for the game over all. They know they can't really charge more than $59. The only DLC I've ever bought has been for Borderlands 2. That is the only game I've played that you got what you payed for up front.

After seeing how they handled wolfenstein I feel confident in the new doom.

13 hours to me is just "decent" for a single-player campaign for a FPS. Anything less than 7 hours doesn't interest me unless the game is really innovative and on sale. Too bad the last truly innovative single-player non-RPG FPS was Prey.

Hope it's got some good writing, quake 4 and wolfenstein new order were both massive steps up in terms of their predecessors.
It does have the same composer as both of the latest wolf games though, really good work on there

super excited for this game, i cant wait
it was a fan trailer spliced together from the official footage, so yes the juxtaposed absurdity was the entire point. i thought it was funny
there had better be a cfg workaround for this. shooters arent meant to be played at 60hz
well, the old talent, along with carmack, have almost entirely jumped ship since the zenimax acquisition (& subsequent mismanagement of doom4). but after RAGE flopped a good number of folks were fired or forced out...so really the only "same guys" are a few lower level folks & director marty stratton, an old hand whos been with id software since 97.
meanwhile im sure he himself is painfully aware of the problems carmack had continually butting heads with zenimax when doom4 was drifting into generic-shooter-halo-clone-crap-land...& painfully aware of his shortcomings (some might say failure) with the all too linear RAGE
basically the publisher is desperately trying to make a blockbuster & going about it entirely wrong, keep trying to grab the wheel & veering the project into the trash along the way...so to recap: the dev team is now a bunch of new folks who are trying to emulate OLD DOOM™ secondhand at the behest of one old hand, mr stratton...who no doubt can hear the echos of carmack yelling at publisher execs (trying to water the project down for mass appeal to the cawadoody console crowd) still ringing in his head to this day
