With it moving to Steam & having a free to play portion available to allow new players to get a taste of what the game actually is, it could very well be the equivalent of it being resuscitated in a major way.

nah, its just a reskin of the original with all they've done to it.

I highly doubt it. Its fun to play but the DLC money grabbing is killing it imo.

it's a "not finished work" game... it never have found it's comunity, most player that have loved Destiny were unsatisfied, and new game were not so entusiast about it... BTW each month there is already free Destiny 2 licence giveaway... and it doesn't make more people playing the game. 🙁

Which Destiny is on battle.net? I got that one for free (basic version whatever) long time ago. Was not bad for what it is. But it is not something I can enjoy playing alone and not for long.

Destiny 2 was free on battle.net so yes it was already free to play which is when I got it. It's got a pretty good co-op campaign that will last 20 hours or so. Worth a look with some friends.

Free starter ,some months ago, not my cup of tea.

It's great, I never played destiny1 so not bothered if it's a reskin. Imo looks and plays great. I bought forsaken dlc recently, got base for free back then and I'm having a good time. Also there are a lot of players playing it.. it's far from dead.

The words "partially" and "free to play" are just two terms used to lie.... So what we have here, a big fraud?

Destiny 2 is on battle.net. I got it free a few months back. Still haven't played it yet. EDIT: Whoops I see someone beat me to the punch

What? No. The base game is free to play, not hard to understand. I also regularly play Destiny 2 on PC, and I never have any issues finding anyone to play with. So I would say it's far from dead, not a success on PC like they thought it would be. They missed their market big time though.

I've got D2 free from BNet last year (all DLC up to then last one, so two in total). I bought the last one after some time because the game was addictive. I then got a season pass with black forge update. Was not impressed with essentially grinding'a'lot armory and still waiting to see some update like the last one from 2018. They focus a lot on PvP and pointless out of place raids. For both of these there are much better games, free or otherwise.

actually the game is very far from dead. i am part of a 1000+ member destiny clan that actively plays ( that is divided between many branches due to the clan member cap), que times within the game are within seconds for both pvp as well as all the pve modes and maps... the reason why there doing this is due to the fact that bungie bought back the rights to destiny... prior to a few months back , activision owned majority of the shares and had almost complete control over the game. bungie has now bought back those shares, and now have full control over the game and franchise again, which is why they are moving to steam, due to the fact that activision owns the blizzard launcher

actually your getting the base game (which includes all launch maps the main story and majority of the pvp modes), plus the original season pass (first 3 dlcs free). which is many hours of content

actually the last free giveaway of the base game was in dec/jan if i recall, which was to promote the new expansions launch (forsaken)

and its same old same old crap, Bungie doesn't know how to make a good shooter unless a publisher is holding their hand.

the cap level is boring as it is. Getting +30 power by playing full month 5 hours per day is boring. I got burnt out trying to get to PL 700. Why would they increase it further after such a short time is beyond me. And how can a clan have 1000 members when the cap is 100? If you refer to some dudes making 10(!) clans and you are in ONE, you are in a 100 member clan, you have no contact with the other 9 clans (you can have some people in your friends list but you cant complete CLAN quests with them now can you, because - not the same clan! 🙂 ) I'll bet you a 100$ that at least 50 ppl are inactive, because all you do is PvP and rush daily/weekly asap. new raid? smh...new strike would have been a much better option content wise. Those raids are mostly out of the touch with the theme of the game and super boring, artificially prolonged for the sake of duration itself. And once you see people completing them using only abilities, without firing a single shot, you get how well designed those raids are. PS. I am just going to go ahead and admit that we probably can agree to disagree. What I was hooked on was a good shooter in PvE environment, good feeling of gun play etc. Then they start shoving the worst possible PvP I have ever tried down my throat. Crucible is a joke. Everybody has that "one" layout with weapons that they don't even enjoy, and dumb yellow pieces that gives them the ability to cheese and the rest is up to ping.
