Going to hold out for a few years before i jump to a new DDR4/motherboard, you would be mad to buy right away best to wait for it to mature somewhat..like a good wine:)

Dam, look at dem ultra high cl figures...
Well, at least it's a step forward.

I'm pleased with the lower voltage and the one stick per channel design. My DDR3 Nehalem has been my best PC build, no regrets even though the wisdom at the time was to buy DDR2 Penryns. I eagerly await Skylake!

Skylake and hopefully by them some nice ddr4 at reasonable prices.
I imagine they'll be wanting to milk us badly over ddr4 pricing. (at least on mainstream arrival with haswell-e).

2011-3 is tempting to make me step up from my old X58 platform... still only able to survive because of the OC'ed CPU, the enthusiast platform giving tripple channel DDR (running at a meager 1150 thought), and the by then increadibly useless 3GB of GDDR rather than the standard 1.5GB (strangely, it still pays off with BF4 and modded Skyrim).
Invest the money, skip what comes in between, would be nice to do that again.

It an ECC memory type for server.
Standard DDR4 will be chipper...
The chippest 64GB (4x16) ECC DDR3 costs 664$ on Newegg
and the most expensive 992$

Dat price, you can get DDR3 2133mhz for 100$.

Ill still stick with my 4770K and DDR3 2133mhz ram for a while! Nothing really uses 8-6 cores much still at all.

BLEH!
And so it begins... :P

If i was going to x99 id wait for the refresh because this first line of x99 will be expensive, have teething troubles and wont oc as well as the refresh.
BLEH!

What a joke. Wake me up in 2 years when this isn't such a punch in the ballz...

Nice find Terje_P! I consider myself a ruling member of the PC elite class, but I ain't gonna shell 900$ on memory anytime soon. Specially not for the very over-the-top amount of 64GB.

Well I'm very much looking forward to this. Havnt upgraded cpu in ages!
