Why no 275 and 750 options? These were ideal with MX300. And seem to be no U.2 support for 2.5'' drives.
275GB MX300 did well with up to 2,5 PB written data on 3DNews tests. Just slightly under 850 EVO. This series supposed to be better.
No. They skipped Windows 9 because of Windows 9x. To avoid mishmash.

Dang, that's a very good price. I'll definitely keep a look out for them.
As an Asian, I've never understood the taboo around the number four (it supposedly means death, but it's just a number as far as I'm concerned). I also don't understand the aversion to thirteen in the west - IMO, both superstitions are stupid.

Good price for a 1 TB SSD but still too high to kill classic disks: i bought a 8 TB a few days ago for 215 euros.

The belief that the number 13 is some how tainted or linked to evil pre-dates "western culture" and seems to be related to Religious and Norse lore and events surrounding a 13th guest at a celebration where that 13th guest was responsible for death and/or mischief/chaos/anarchy.

Seems a bit weird that the m.2 has similar read/write speeds as the 2.5 inch, yet Samsung m.2 are several times faster. Guess Crucial are just offering m.2 form factor but cheaper?

Couple of weeks ago, I decided to bite the bullet, and buy a Crucial 2TB SSD for my gaming drive. Man...what a huge difference on load times, even with my previous drive being a hybrid.

That's the basis of it (similar sound) but I think it's a genuine fear, like how the west treats the number 13. If anything, it's thought to bring bad luck, like other taboos associated with death in Asian culture - I remember that I used to stick my chopsticks in my rice, which would upset my mom since that particular usage symbolizes burial/funerals (as far as I'm concerned, it's just a convenient way to place my chopsticks - and I still do it to this day).

Samsung's newer M.2 drives are NVMe whereas the MX500 is just an SATA drive adapted to M.2.

Looks like it is. And that's why no U.2 support. Lack of NVMe is a significant disadvantage. Wonder if Micron 1300 series will be NVMe to compete with 850 EVO.

Bought one last night off Amazon UK for £233, thats a bucket load less than SCAN and OCUK are selling the M300 1TB for.

Wonder if there will be a m.2 version with these speeds. I already have 3 sata SSD and 1 m.2 960 evo. I still have a gen2 m.2 slot open and this would make a damn good game drive for the price.
