Count me another lucky guy where everything (mostly) works fine with Creative drivers. Only rough period I recall were in the early Vista days. Not sure I care about this new driver since everything is peachy with my Zx. Maybe if they show us some release notes as to why it was released and what was 'fixed' or improved I may take another look.

None have ever shown up for my Recon3D on WU. I don't install drivers from Windows Update anyway.

I used to stick by that principle and obtained my drivers from the Creative website and I'm still selective over what drivers I'll use via WU or via the official website. But Creative drivers are fine. Only the core driver is updated in WU saving a reinstall of the whole thing. The update I had for my EVO headset resolved a frequent random disconnection issue I've been having for the last few months.

Good drv. finally (first upd. was in January) Please install on top of it PAX SB-Z Modded drv http://www.hardwareheaven.com/community/forums/pax-download-z-zx-zxr.193/ I have modded SB-Z with Nichicon “Fine Gold” caps ;-) And using with 5.1 wooden Sound System 600W Music Power (~200W Electic) Great sound

Got the SBZX a few weeks back after owning a Xonar Phoebus and what the hell happened to Creative ? I am a fan of them but these cards are just awful when compared to the Xonar line up 🙁 Give me the Titanium HD over this new SBZ series any day.

Shame I was getting amazing audio on my SBZ card but now I went GTX970 SLI I get buzzing over headphones when using the SBZ. Seems to be electrical interference over PCIE lanes. I am not running out of lanes as my i7 4770K had 28 PCIE lanes and my two 970s are in 8x 8x mode which leaves me with 12 lanes free. I have tried everything cleaned out drivers, reinstalled drivers, tried different headsets, etc. Nothing works. It got so bad my friends over on teamspeak could hear to buzzing being transmitted through my microphone. I took out the SBZ and installed Motherboard audio and the buzzing instantly went away. I now uninstalled mobo audio and I am using USB headset and it works perfectly fine. Shame, its not my PSU as its a 1200W Silverstone Strider which is more than enough and has excellent specs.

It's soundcards in general they don't really have good EM protection for their mic segments. I had exactly the same problem I just unplugged the mic from the SBZX and plugged it directly into the mic jack on the motherboard and enabled it in the bios but didn't install any drivers, Works like a charm 🙂

Maby try and Install PAX on top of the Creative one drv. Everything working Great on my RIG, and Sound is Exelent + 3D positioning in Games IS way better than other SC ;-) Including Old X-Fi series. I have in my Life -> Gravis Ultrasound (on 486PC ) and lots of SB then X-Fi Extreme Gamer and Now SB-Z But Creative Support for SC Have to be Better, and slowly they gain our trust again
