Basically what sony started in 2015 with 7/9.2. not sure if this is anywhere close to the sony in SQ.

"...The 600W RMS wireless sub can punch so deep that it is virtually hell-shattering way down deep... " Now that's pretty damn deep!:D

such a gimick, not even true surround has that much over a stereo system let alone these sound bars... and it is not 15.2 if the 9/15 are center front firing drivers, this is at best a glorified 3.1 setup not to mention that 1x10" driver is better than 2x5" drivers any day of the week
It's really surprising how some of these units can, in fact, project sound to provide positional audio. Bose has been doing stuff like this for at least a decade. I have a Companion 5 (5.1) PC speaker system that uses only a left speaker, right speaker and sub-woofer. No rear speakers, but you'd swear you hear sounds behind you and the positional audio is pretty amazing. They've really come a long way with surround-sound technology and how they can project sound throughout a room. A lot of these units can even calibrate themselves by bouncing sounds around the room in conjunction with on-board or external mics. Pretty cool tech.

At the price point of $5000 you can hire someone to put together an excellent surround system in your home.

There is a 50% coupon on their website, but still a waste of money at that price. Stay away

@ubercake yup, exactly. When i first heard about sony releasing 5.1 (and higher) soundbars i was very sceptical, but after i heard it at the training even, it worked pretty well. @NewTRUMP Order you realise that this isnt for someone that is interested in a real 5.1 setup? i had tons of customers (or their wives) that didnt want speaker wires running to the back of the room, especially when ppl dont own the place they live in. besides that, lots of ppl want better sound than what the tv offers, but dont care about theater sound, or bose wouldn't be selling soundbars like stupid. can i find a cheaper way to get to work than in a +100K car? sure, but that doesnt mean thats what "i" want. you know someone with kids? try explaining to a 5y old, why the blue bike is cheaper and better than the pink one...

errr you always hear sound from behind even in mono setups, its called reverb... and its really not "new tech". so yeah, sure, stereo system can produce "sound from behind", can it produce as a discrete channel? no, never, you will never hear anything "from behind" that you didnt hear it first from the front... what i was saying is that stereo is still king, i do have a 5.1 system in my media room and through the years i have switched to turning it off and listening everything in stereo for the most part, surround is a pretty gimicky tech especially after a couple of years using it, the novelty goes away... paying for a "virtual surround" is even more gimicky to the point its totally not worth it... seeing how this crap costs 5 grand ill put some shift+1's with my comment !!!111!!!!!1111111!!!
Unless you sit directly in the centre of the fronts, dialogue won't be anywhere as distinguishable as with a centre speaker. Stereo is great for music but everything else I prefer surround.

Much rather get hi-fi separates. 7.1ch AV receiver + SVS speakers/sub should blow this thing away.

Next month my logitech Z-5500 has its 10th anniversary & it cost me 289 bucks (ok the backlight stopped working 3 years ago, but the rest is still totally fine)!!! 5000€ or even half of it is too crazy for this 15.2-soundbar! Especially when you know, that you can't cheat physics! As ubercake mentioned, 1x10" can't be replaced with 2x5"! A buddy of me owns a bose 5.1, that cost 2500€ in 2009 - in dubstep that sounds a bit crisper, but in classical music it looses drastically, cause the satellits have only 1,5"-drivers compared to 2.5"drivers @logitech and the bose tries to 'interpolate' the midfrequencies - which sounds just coldmetallic and not warm (e.g. grandpiano)! They could pack twice the ammount of small drivers on that 15.2-joke & it would make it only louder, but it would never improve the quality of the sound fired from it. 🙂 PS: As some of you already stated -> for 5k you can get quite a nice 7.1 homecinemasetup, that will simply crush that hillarious soundbar (including real THX-Surroundsound).
