With a stupid ass price for a 4TB.

I paid £500 for the MP400 4tb and yea it's Gen3 but it's still super fast and i can't tell the difference between Gen3 and Gen4 even with double the speeds, 3500 vs 7000. I gave my son the Gen4 drive for his PS5 as it's only a 1tb drive.
This was a while back now but the MP400 4tb is still the same price. I think it should be a £100 a tb for larger drives.

I am not, however, seeing any that are cheaper that make the same claimed speeds.
And obviously, if you do not need those speeds, or do not need a small form factor such as NVMe (when compared to a SATA drive), then by all means get a less performing, cheaper, same storage size, SSD.
I think you missed his. As he clearly stated for PCI-Express 4.0 NVMe drives, this is not expensive, then you came around with your sata example.
Like i'm not going to pretend to know all the ins and outs of why one may cost more then the other, but just the controller itself would have to be more advanced to deal with the speeds that they want to get for PCI-Express 4.0 NVMe drives, and the liklihood that a 4TB sata SSD has more space and potentially needs more, but less expensive, less dense chips. etc. etc. etc.
And i'll reiterate his statement: For what this is, compared to other products in the same class, it's right about normal for the price, 4TB and all.
Yes, you can find 4TB PCI-Express 4.0 NVMe drives for less, that also perform less.
