This keyboard should be named i.e. K35 because even old K40 is functionally better and K50 is miles ahead.

....or I could get a "proper" mechanical keyboard for ~$19-35. These Z-77 keyboards vary in "Rebrander", price, Outemu switch type, and backlight color, but I've got a few of them and they all come with 5 spare switches, are hot swap style and have lasted for years, usually with 1-3 of the spare switches used at some point. I dig the tactile but quiet Brown Switches. I would not pay more than $8 for a membrane keyboard any more. Not since the Cherry MX patent expired and now everyone and their brother is making them for cheap. One thing that would have made it half decent is double shot keycaps, but it appears they are just painted, so the letters are going to wear off, quickly. More like the paint around the unpainted letter part, but the effect is the same.

This K/B could be useful, with an OS that cant use iCue, because of the onboard profile. Set it up in Win10/11 first and forget it. Pretty good at this price+quality point with decent RGB LEDs, a considerably safe (from liquid) quiet and well featured product that works well standalone. It will not go dark or use gaudy colours when plugged into a none iCue compatible device. ie for Windows 7 or earlier, command line OS, Linux, TV or satellite tuner, Gaming console ... Especially where noise wont be tolerated and is subject to accidental spills by kids/pets/unfortunate placement.... That it can cope with a 0.3L spill is impressive. I'm considering getting one after user experiences come out 🙂

I own the Corsair K55 RGB PRO XT which i got because one i don't like mech k/bs very much and two i'm clumsy and spill things so the membrane is both easy to clean and it doesn't make clicky noises which i like about it. I got it in April 2021 and it still is like new apart from a bit of wear on the spacebar but thats just where my thumb sits while i'm using the WASD keys. This £40 Corsair K55 CORE RGB is basically just a smaller version of the Pro XT which is still selling at £75. Same price as it was in early 2021. I think for 40 bucks/pounds this isn't a bad price for a rgb backlit KB. It's the same KB really, they just made it a bit more compact by removing the bar along the top of the KB and squeezing the media buttons into a smaller package. They also removed the G1-6 macro keys that i never used btw.
