Thats a lot of 8 pin sockets...now all i need is a 1000watt sfx with 5 pci-e/cpu sockets

That's 13 amp at 100% load, almost fully saturating the common 15amp 115V outlet, realistically though you'll never actually want to go over 70% of a PSU max wattage. This is a great PSU for a pc that will use about 800watts for long periods of time which would really be about 7amp continuous.

still don't see it making sense with +800w psus to have fan off mode. "great idea", to have air going intto the case completely unfiltered.

I'm not sure what you mean? are you saying the fan turning off while temps are low is not a function you care about?

not if it means the case fans pulling air in thru the psu, unless all intake fans are producing more flow than the exhaust ones. my rig is under water and silent, as in inaudible at low load while 3ft away, and even then i do not hear anything from the psu (corsair 750 rmx). not sure what you mean, mine has a switch and adjusts fans speed as well. and if its soo low load and temps are within spec, why care if its not (running). low load is low load (for the psu), no matter what im using it for.

not sure what a consumer destroying his/her components by improperly installing hw has to do with corsair. im using water on/off for over 15y, not just on my rig, without problems and not a single leak or other issue. and the only time i had a rig shut down on my by temp limit (cpu) was with a broken air cooler, even when i had forgotten to plug the pump back in after flush diid it take almost 1min of running win (no load) to see a temp spike big enough to realize something was up, and shut it down.

Most cases have the PSU on the bottom with the fan facing up. That orientation takes heat in from inside the case and blows it out the back. The fan off mode is awesome especially for titanium rated PSU's as they don't get very hot until under heavy load. I have a Seasonic Titanium model in my PC that I over provisioned on wattage, so the fan doesn't come on even during light gaming. This PC is near dead silent normally and is almost silent while gaming. Of course, it also has a modded GPU with 120mm fans kind of like Noctua 3070 and other little touches. That all is to say the hybrid modes for PSU's are great in some cases (pun intended).

Yeah, my 1000w corsair HX fan never comes on and i like it that way, i would never buy a psu that doesn't have the function of the fan turning off when not needed.

again, not saying its completely useless, but proper cases dont misuse psu to extract heat (instead of case fan) and have the psu on bottom making for lower fan rpm already, but you still have unfiltered air coming in unless case has a mesh, which some manufacturers don't care to use (thinking its used only for air going out). and when i have a 10y warranty on the psu, ill have em swap it if fan dies within that time frame, so don't care if fan is running low speed all the time (as i always go for lowest temp possible without making noise, even if within normal range).

Cases are designed for PSU fan on bottom to cool the PSU. Thats why they have large hole mesh and a fan filter at bottom.

I had my older AX1200i with 230v AC input running at 1350W load for long time without any issues. The voltages were stable, and the exhausted air only slightly warm. At "only high" loads, the fan was quiet. Now it powers my brother's computer and the fan doesn't even start at such loads.

I wouldn’t be surprised that a ax would be overbuilt enough to run fine. I’m sure you can run a Toyota at red line without destroying the engine right away. But generally i wouldn’t want to be anywhere near red line for a long period of time even if i believe it’ll tolerate it for a while. just curious thought, what were you running on that thing to be pulling 1350watts? Did you put a watts meter to know you actually ran it that high?

@alanm check my Tt level 20 HT. psu "top" mounted, and no filter. and we're not taking about some 50$ "gaming" rgb case were they spray painted a beige midi black. i prefer all the benefits from th case, vs fan off on psu.. @Ven0m not surprising, as its one of the best digital units (until i stopped looking at reviews +1y ago.

I had an episode with LTC miner - 4 AMD cards with risers (can't remember model just now), DIY frame. At first I thought the fan was broken, when it didn't move when testing 2 cards. With 3 and 4, it started moving and fan speed increased, but no by much - just enough. No coil whine or anything like that. It could do even a little more with card OC, but I didn't want to push it farther. I tested it with amp and continuous power usage meters, power rails with digital multimeter and the bundled software gave pretty accurate readouts too. It has an USB cable, that you plug into your mobo, and the PSU gives quite a lot of data. It's pretty much useless (not as much as on-PSU displays) unless you push it to the limits. By comparing it to other PSUs power draw and looking at exhausted air temp & volume, the efficiency looked stupidly high, at least on 230V. And they released 80+ Titanium certified 1600W model later on. AX1200i had Platinum, but at that time there wasn't anything more, so I don't know if it could match Titanium levels or not. Now it powers a computer with Ryzen 5950X and RTX 2700 Super used mostly for CAD work and gaming. It's an overkill by far, but it didn't disturb sleep during overnight rendering sessions. We wanted something multi-card / 3090-ready, but wallets weren't ready for the price bump which happened soon after. But it's not all bells & whistles - such PSU costs arm and leg, and it's too long to fit some cases / fan holes don't align. And I had another "budget" Corsair PSU around 600W, which failed after some time. It would be much better if these new HXi were closer to the old AXi rather than the failing one.

That's amazing, those AX are incredible but definitely overkill. I have had issues with the RM series, one of them fried during a brownout but I still bought a 750w version of it for my wifes budget 5700G build, it was on sale and its good enough for when i drop my rtx 2070s in the pc. HX series are really the sweet spot in terms of quality and price, I run a HX 1000w in my main rig.

there are 2 different releases for rhe RMx, having issues with it, i would guess it wasnt from the latest one where they "fixed" stuff (2021 iirc).
