Does one have to seperately register to get that extended warranty? Not that I ever had a PSU breakdown so far, yet I'd like to maybe grab that one 😀

No need to register. Just hang on to your receipt.

By the time a PSU is that old you already bought a new one. Every year it drops around 3-5% overall performance.

"With an extra three years of warranty, enthusiasts, system builders and gamers alike can be confident that their Corsair AXi, HXi, RMi or RMx PSU will provide, efficient, stable power well into the next decade and beyond." Corsair guarantee it wont lose performance for 10years or they'll replace it.

Except most people don't hang on to their receipts! If bought online usually no need and if bought locally and you know the store owners well you don't either!

That's a very nice initiative from their part. Big Big thumbs up!

That is a good move from Corsair, it makes decision to buy expensive PSU easier which is good because PSU is maybe the most important factor for stability (and reliability) of everything running inside case, but 7 years was already good, almost enough as with such newer/better tech every 2-3 years the second time a big step in such newer tech is available (meaning max 6 years) we need newer PSU. With 10 years warranty if you buy a good, expensive beastie PSU chances for needing newer are less ofc, though don't forget that any PSU's efficiency drops after 3-4 years. Maybe it's just a marketing trick to gain more customers or to make you buy more expensive PSU from them but nevertheless it's good move...

That's why I get more than I need, as it gets older it will still do what I need my PSU also has a 10 year warranty

I read the warranty explanation from Corsair website, 'This version of the warranty applies to products purchased on or after April 27, 2015. For prior versions of the Corsair limited warranty, please contact customer service.' So is it means the PSU bought before this date will not be entitled?

Man, even 7 years is a long time. Could not be happier with my Corsair PSU, definitely they will be by nr.1 brand future wise for me.

Five years ago i´ve bought a Corsair TX850 V2 that had a 5 year warranty and after the fourth year, the PSU started making a very irritating whining noise, i contacted Corsair about the problem and they replaced it by a better one a RM850, it´s even modular, without any problem! As for the receipt, i lost it a long time ago but fortunately i bought the PSU through an online store (Pixmania) that keeps the record of all purchases so i just had to send the image of it by mail and problem solved. When it comes to PSUs, Corsair is the only brand i consider. And now thy´re even better with an warranty of 10 years! That´s crazy!

There's a few other vendors that offer 10 year warranties on PSU's, EVGA comes to mind. Hopefully this will push the rest to follow, it's a good move by Corsair.
