Sorry if I've I read past it, but what's the latency on it? All RAM vendors "flex" with their frequency, but never list the latency on it?

Latency depends on too many factors 🙂 1. 2. And 3. Timings, cpu freq, cache freq, OS and the list goes on 🙂 I'm using G.skill 6000 c40 (samsung) tweaked to 100GB/s and 54ns in Aida. Waiting for Hynix ddr5. Sub 50ns and 110GB/s is possible 🙂 Performance is already past max tweaked gear 1 ddr4, like 4000c14...

I would recommend that the editors at Guru3D stop posting DDR5 announcements until the public is actually able to buy them. It's frustrating to see companies get publicity who aren't providing product.

If you want, it's possible. You need to actual want to buy it. Same with gpu's. I bought many 30 series gpu's for retail price, but you need to be ready. Things isn't falling in your hands... Now I bought Dominator 5200, Adata 4800, g.skill 6000c40 and g.skill 6000c35. Bought them from different shops in europe. Hardware testing is my hobby, so I actual want to buy them. Every kit is mrsp. I'm ordering things day one, and the first minutes. Waiting is fail

Just because they're unavailable now doesn't mean they always won't be. Even for searching for the product these posts are important. Not to mention it provides an opportunity for the community, us, to make comment on these things. There are some really smart and/or opinionated people that have been visiting the site as long as I and they add to the overall reading the experience.

I ended up going with a D4 board for my new build as I couldn't get DDR5 anywhere I looked and saw some reviews that suggested DDR4 was as good as the current DDR5 in real-world usage. So, question is at what point (speed) will DDR5 be a real step up from a D4 setup?

good question depends what ddr4 im running 4133 c16 and I suspect basic 4800 ddr5 will be slower,so will 5200 on average. i'd say,for decent ddr4 b-dies,above 5200. nizzen will know i think the gear ratios might prove that ddr4 over 4000 is less effective than under 4000 with tighter timings. I think ddr5 is the way to go for adl, just not current ddr5,unless you're willing to pay a hefty premium. if you're on 9900KS and like to get the best without exorbitant premiums, wait till ddr5 +7GHz becomes as affordable as ddr 4000 is now.it'll happen sooner than you think if your current system is still as capable as a 9900K.then you have at least 2 more years without giving a damn. for those who desperately need an upgrade tho, like r2000/7th gen owners, time before ddr5 and adl-s/zen4 become good value per dollar will be ticking four times slower.
