Here's a game for 2020:
Each time Intel adds a "+" to their 14nm tech process, take a shot.

Until we see prices, Intel remains not interesting in my eyes.

Will unlock clock speed only on two SKUs.
And 5,3Ghz is nothing to sneer at, trouble is that apart from the high clock speed, there aren't many things in Intel's favour as a overall platform.
And there is no mention of disable HT, or performance loss by applying the vulnerability patches.
TL;DR too little, too late, IMHO.
Here is an idea Intel: get your head out of your butt, hire people who can open-source and develop better your Management Engine, add more security layers without performance loss and adjust prices.
Yes, there will be an uphill battle, but you spent too much time sleeping on your laurels.
But hey, feel free to ignore my opinion.

Not very interesting to begin with but when nVidia finally moves its cards to PCIE 4 (probably around June) Intel will be completely dead on the desktop. No one will want to buy obsolete tech.

Let's have a certain tolerance to certain ideas
Intel dead on desktop?
Well, bring more arguments and see how far can you go.

amazing, i will wait to buy one
i see with my own eyes a i9 9900k vs ryzen 3700x (my friends had both) and ryzen 3700x are really weak and i9 is soo stronger but heat like a hell
so i choose wait next generation

@squalles Pray, can you describe the 3700X weakness?
And what makes Intel 9900K "soo strong"?

My yawnometer just hit the red area. I still hope for good competition tho... We need it for reasonable 4xxx Ryzen prices π
Ye, I compared my 3900x(my home rig) to 9900k(in my office) and with Ryzen the system is way more responsive while using multiple apps. No compare here. I didnt check the 9900k for gaming tbh, but yes the wave of hot air is so much stronger π

Damn,so intel turned out like AMD after all when it comes to overclocking. Manual oc is dying fast.

Another intel news and another intel amd die hard fans clash...
I don't see prices yet for both the cpu and platform.
It seems to me that Intel is going for the speed here and amd for number of cores, cache size and efficiency.
All that I can tell is: There is something for everyone.
You are more inclined to a home desktop & database server pc and you need big cache for serving data queries and working multi thread? - Amd got you covered.
You want to play games at the top 1.5 more frames than competition - Intel got you covered.
So, something for everybody.

And what about people who create content and make whatever minus gaming, your opinion still stands?
