So until today Intel was saying that soldering can course microscopic cracks so they could not solder even small 4 core K series, but now when they need it they can solder 8 core CPU no problem, Shame u Intel!.

Keyword is can - If you read the original whitepaper Intel released on the thermal issue, it's not something that's going to impact all processors.. it just leads to a higher variable defect rate caused by thermal cycling of the processor over a period of time, with some likely occurring within the warranty period. Intel ships over 120m processors a quarter.. even a slight impact in defect rate is going to be a lot of money. That's not to mention that the crux of the issue is heat density - not only is Intel's process historically more dense but their cache/AVX512 registers are far more dense than anything AMD has on it's processors - David Kanter talks about this in a PC Perspective podcast when Zen came out. They may just be willing to accept a higher defect rate for this line, given its relatively small marketshare, in return for higher performance.

Those wonderful IGP's of theirs?o_O Kicking those out and returning to solder henceforth wouldn't be that much of a risk for Intel then, would it...'oh yes, why not, let it run at FIVE Djiggohertses!!! AMD's Ryzen won't know what hit them!!!'

Will this fix the Intel HyperThreading vulnerability spectre vulnerability meltdown vulnerability Foreshadow vulnerability No No No but spectacular execution makes games faster in 1920 x 1080 by 12% so its worth ignoring. Intel users need to get a grip. That's including myself. Time to jump ship enough is enough.

since when normality is presented and advertised as an extraordinary feature? soldered heat spreader-it's a given at that price and thermal levels-why Intel is offering it as a feature is beyond logic. Even some low-end Ryzen are soldered, Intel has to learn to respect more its consumers.

Unfortunately not the case. ThreadRipper is cool, it's got reasonable gaming performance on a par with the normal Ryzen CPU's but there's very few games out there which utilise the available cores properly. Fantastic for streaming and so on though. Pity the cost is so high for the 9xxx range. Hopefully it'll drop fast as that 9700K is looking pretty tasty for my sim rig when OC'd to 5GHz plus...

I still find it amazing how delidding is a thing (including delidding kits). It's a testament to Intel's decade-long monopoly that people have simply accepted the use of paste as normal (similar to how gamers today accept the Titan premium), and a reminder of the importance of competition in the marketplace. Hell, this Core i9 would not even exist if it wasn't for competition. Also, this "confirmed" news is still just a rumor (anonymous source).

Im pretty sure the i5 i7 hell even the i3 should be solider not that I had heat issue with cpu's, then again I never OC but lower temps on load and idle are always welcome I can only image what 6700k temps would be with a NH-D14 would be like if I actual delid, even though I never would

Are these 40 lanes chipset PCIE lanes or CPU like the new Ryzen? I'm looking at upgrading for more CPU lanes because I need more than 16. edit: Nvm, its 16 CPU + 24 chipset. What a fail.

Shh dont remind them that ALL the HEDT chips of 3xxx, 4xxx , 5xxx, 6xxx were soldered also. Can you imagine all those 7900X moaning why their CPU is coming with toothpaste, while the 6950X was soldered and even the 3930K?
