Are there going to be normal length 1060's?... ones with a cooler the same length as the pcb... or does it really need a large cooler because of the heat it creates?

I dont know, but the temp treshold is set at 94°C on the standard 1060 who is pretty high when you compare with the 1080 ( 83°C ).

That heatsink looks like it was designed for blower type airflow. And three huge fans on card which is supposed to eat little energy (Produce little heat)? At least it looks like it has good power delivery.
