We are so lucky moores law lasted as long as it did. Our whole modern world was built on it. No such future mass shrinkage in sight. Intel did that.
Last I heard it calculated if the current Intel processor was built on same node as pentium 1 it would be the size of entire states.
Still recall when, I think it was AMD 150nm shrink was delayed and finally was released after they started using more expensive copper. That was beginning of current rabbit hole of rare earth minerals, toxic chemicals, and ultra expensive tools for ever more minimal improvements in which we find ourselves today.

94! man what an innings! I don't now about doubling transistors, I also think he wanted to double life. But he didn't quiet pull it off because we all know Moores law is broken.
