So I have a 3800x and a 1080ti and mostly game/discord voice/cam/stream/screenshare and sometimes stream games. Is this worth my time or is it more geared for increasing productivity while sacrificing gaming performance?

The only version I could get to work reliably and repeatedly was the very first version of CTR released. It worked great, I thought! It's a real overclock--speeds up games as well as anything else. I found myself using the manual mode to ratchet up performance, too, after letting the automatic version run to completion. It will definitely speed up your system while running on less voltage and so cooler at the same time! Win-Win. I think it has great potential as a must-have utility. Don't have to stick with 1250mv--you can go to 1300mv or 1350mv maximums to squeeze a bit more performance while keeping the voltage lower than stock.

The whole idea of the program is to automate the process of overclocking while reducing max voltage load at the same time. You could literally spend days trying all of these combinations manually in the bios compared to less than an hour using the software. That's way it looked to me when I used it. It worked well--at least the first version worked fine for me.

"Changing the multiplier" in a monolithic cpu is not the same as changing it in a "multi ccx" cpu where every ccx has its own lotery so... yeah... its never gonna be "changing a multiplier" in intel either if they stop following the monolithic desing route. He is just a hater trolling in a thread with 0 interest for him.

Will check this tonight. When I tried the 'overclock' settings from the diagnostics log my pc would restart.. I have a 3600XT wiith a Gigabye 450i ITX mobo

He is wrong , It is not just about overclocking . It's about tuning . My 3300X was using about 1.4v , if fact 1.25v was enough , power draw went down , temps went down by 7-10C. Performance was same. It also shows how much your CPU can take and more . Ryzens are harder to tune i agree , but much more fun to play with 🙂 I know with Intel you just slap multi and volts and you are done 🙂 PS. Dont feed troll 😀

I have the same and use this on several games to drop the Voltage of my Asrock x570 Taichi and run way way cooler, even on my custom WC loop, I run at 4k so 4.2ghz with 1.175v makes no noticeable difference ingame to running the CPU at 4.4ghz and over 1.3v.

Maybe but CTR allows me to flick between pre-sets depending on what im doing, the ability to run with lower voltages at the press of a button is nice.

@Goiur most dont see any improvement for gaming, as CTR is about all core oc. outside rendering/encoding etc, my perf for gaming dropped, as ST/SC clocks are much lower. haven't tried with the XT, but the 3600x and two 3800x behaved the same. sure i could maybe gain a bit on voltage/temps, but im staying around 50 peaks at 60*C in gaming, so not really a problem.

Did not have the chance to test the 1.0 myself, anyway, with the 2.0 we are supposed to be able to oc the strong ccx with higher clocks and that should improve gaming performnace where there is some kind of bottleneck.
