You got me there 😀 I was like: "Did I miss some special kind of switch?" It is mechanism holding keycaps in place. Switch is mechanism connecting electrical components. (This one is still dome-switch) Anyway, as long as one does not try to remove such keycaps, it works well. Then you are quite likely to break something permanently. Thanks for opportunity to learn name of that mechanism. I wish there was short travel, low profile keyboard with good switches. Preferably chiclet design.

Precisely, its a rubber dome. "feeling of a laptop keyboard on your desktop" No thanks. However, then again my switch of choice when im working is - Topre. Which is technically still a very fancy rubber dome but of a MUCH higher quality and different feel. Add on top of it a well-built keyboard, lube it, add sound dampeners and you have a fantastic package. Here, its as it is, and you can't do anything about it. Not sure who will like it (besides Appulh people).

Cherry doesn't do only MX switch's keyboard, they do very reliable and nice "normal" keyboard too

Well to be VERY specific Topre switches - are electrostatic capacitive non-contact switches." But in reality, its a fancy rubber dome with spring. 😉
