Erm you can buy legaly cheat engine and have a fun it supports lot of games on steam so i guess steam approved this if they get their cut also..
cheat engine does have this warning though please make sure that you are not violating the EULA/TOS of the specific game/application. So the action is legal at all. Steam not taking action doesnt say they approve of it, i think it says they think the game devs are more responsible to do something about it. if steam would do something about it, they would get a whole wave of crying people who are unable to use the cheat engine anymore. I think they will rather avoid that.

Are there many legal vac approved third party cheating software that allow you to ruin other peoples online gaming and rendering their Β£40 game unplayable online, can't think of any off the top of my head. lol Could you be getting confused with offline single player hacks and cheats, rather than online cheating possibly.

Will not understand the logic/motivation behind such cheating. If you cheat for a top place in some list then you should forget somehow that top place is of not your doing.

These people need to be sued for damaging the game.

As long as a game has multiplayer, there will always be cheaters. You want to cheat in singleplayer fine, but don't ruin other people's game.

What's with the crazy theories? Cheat Engine is free, so no, you can't legally buy it. It doesn't "support" any specific games, and the author definitely does not provide any info about using it on multiplayer games. You can get VAC ban for using it, if caught, so Steam absolutely doesn't approve. It might be used for testing in a situation like this with no anti-cheat, but "real" hackers are probably not using Cheat Engine because it's easy to detect. Cheat Engine has legitimate uses, and can be a great learning tool. I like to think they might be using this opportunity to gather information about the hacks being used so they can be better prepared for some of them at launch, but it's a never ending battle and we should all know that by now.

This is what i posted on my review of the game..... ACTIVISION as a company are a joke, they sold out years ago, don't care that they did and it's all about the billions of dollars made at release day that is all. This is not even the full release of the game yet and there are cheats in the game already, boasting about cheating. The last 4 or so COD games have been like this, well more than that but its become unplayable in the past 4 or 5 years really. The fact that everything in the game now costs you in some way, either by game time or buying stuff via purchasing credits or game updates, is my issue here. It’s not free and the cheating is stealing money, items and game enchantments from those who are either paying the money and/or putting in the game time. There should be a class action suit brought against ACTIVISION now because this has gone on too long. Theft is theft and this is a kind of theft. Steam are not blameless here either, cheats that are caught should get a hardware ban and complete steam account removal. So cheating will cost you more than Β£50 a shot.

I ran into 2 hackers in my 23hrs of playtime. One of them even had his name "I'm hacking BTW, hahaha."
