Bioware moved more developers into the SWTOR program. I'd say its a little too late to get something of quality out in time for Episode 7 release date. Bioware officialy reported yesterday (Feb 9th) that they plan on 2 big releases for SWTOR this year. 1 in the summer and 1 in the winter. 3.0 came out this past fall to great success. Bioware wants to get back to its roots and work on soloplay and story more.
With whats going on in the SW universe it was expected Bioware would shutdown another game in development to support a known money maker. Taking advantage of the hype that is Episode 7 is a smart move, but is it too late to release anything with little to no bugs in it? Only time will tell, but I'm not holding my breath.
Patches themselves were every 4 weeks, and since then there has been more time between patches, currently its 12 weeks. 3 times what was promised to the community. There have been plenty of aggravating bugs with these patches as well. The most known of which was the exploited Operation which cost some players a bann for a short period of time.
I'm a fan of SWTOR and have been a 2 account sub since beta, this news is good news for the swtor community but im not convinced it will be a huge addition to the game. feel bad a different game was canceled though but its business. dump resources into the money maker is a good idea any day of the week.

Well, it will give them time to fucus on some more important games.

Well that is a bummer this looked at least somewhat interesting after a longtime from bioware.

I'm sorry to say, but this cancelation does not bother me at all. I simply didn't "feel" anything when I first saw that teaser.
I did like SWTOR at launch (even went trough the trouble of getting the CE, which wasn't easy in my country), but that game is imo a dead horse at this moment in time.
I would much better have prefered for Bioware to make a new single player Star Wars RPG in the like of DA:I or the next ME, but in the SW universe and of course with frostbite engine (I can already imagine how awesome it would have been, visually at least). That's why even though I love ME, I'm a bit disappointed that they're working on that instead of a SW game. The only good news for me is that trough this we got kind of a confirmation that some decent DA:I DLC is in the works.

3.0 ??? we are in 3.1 since a month and 3.1b on wednesday.
i was not too fon of the new class system at 1st but i must agree that it is clearly more logic at the use and even more when reaching lv 60.

2.8 killed my concealment ops, I missed that knockdown. I still did ok but I loved seeing them squirm on their backs. LoL I ended up just running 3 op healers through WZ's and maxing comms on them for new gear. but sounds like it will be all for nothing, could 4.0 be the fall/winter release to take advantage of the movie release?
haven't been on since 2.9. 3.0 and 3.1 have released since I have gone overseas. though I do have a laptop coming my way shortly. I heard there are a lot of problems and classes are unbalanced more than they were in 2.x.

bioware austin should change their name.

Considering the quality of the last few releases I want Bioware to stay as far away as possible from Fallout and Star Wars. As far as I'm concerned they haven't released a decent game since Mass Effect 2. They're not the company they used to be, and with EA in control I highly doubt they'll ever improve to any worthwhile degree. The majority of the staff that made the company great are long gone.

Whatever SW games come in the next few years will no doubt be based on the new films which KOTOR/SWTOR have no real way to cash in on (although I'm sure they'll try) as they are set 1000 years or more before the events of the original trilogy
The new films take place several years after the destruction of the second Death Star in 'Return of the Jedi'.
