Wow, that's a pretty hefty mini ITX design! Also am I blind and not seeing the M2 slot?

One is vertical and seems to be by the HDMI port. The other is in the backside of the mobo.

Yep. What he said. the vertical M.2 slot is tucked away on the business end of the mobo, right behind the HDMI port on the IO panel. The U.2 is on the reverse of the mobo.

It's right behind the IO panel, right up against what appears to be an LED laden heatsink...where it has the potential to short out M.2 cards from the looks of things...

I'd say that's more the perspective making it look that way. Yes, the clearance more than likely isn't oceanic in distance.... but i'm sure it's enough so that it won't come into contact with anything that someone might put into that slot.

The M.2 is on the back of the board, and the U.2 is next to the SATA ports, the third slot near the heatsink is for WiFi card.

Odd to see the U.2 and one of the M.2 slots mounted vertically. Standard sized drives might be too long for some systems, the back is a good idea. Usually don't see that too often.
